Default Test drove the Z today, might pickup, what mods first?

Well, after totalling my 8, I went ahead and started doing research for other cars. Although I LOVE my 8, the gas mileage was horrible even when shifting like a grandma, I only got 16-17mpg.

So my insurance is giving back $750 more than what I payed for the 8, plus the $5000 that I put into modding. So in all, I have $28,000 or so for a new car (putting 1/2 the $5000 towards insurance increase and the other half going to save for modding) Will I be able to pickup an 06 Z with good options on it? Basically I just need traction control/leather/maybe some other luxerious things, but is $28,000 enough?

Anyways, if I do go with the Z, with my $2500 left, what do you believe I should do for mods? I could spend all the $2500 at once and get a nice set of wheels/tires, or I could split it up, springs, window tint, intake, exhaust, etc etc. What would you do with $2500?

Also, having the 8, I am pretty much done with the "import sound" and I want to have some "beef" in my exhaust sound. Is there anyway that you'd be able to make the V6 sound like those nice deep growling Mustangs and Camaros?

Thanks for your time and help

the "8" being an rx-8, correct?

Well 28k might get you an 06 [I havent checked prices], and it`d definitely get you a touring 05.

And with the 2.5k left over, I`d either put it towards a TT setup, or if you`re spending it little by little then definitely tint, intake, exhaust, etc.

The Z is a great choice and Ownz the rx-8 You can get an enthusiast model for around 28k, 30k otd. is the the model that is the most cost effective. If you really are considering leather you need to get a touring it also has luxury options like heated seats that goes for around 34k or so depending on options. You need to decide how much mod money u can sacrifice for the Z model.

$28,000 for a 2006 might be pushing it. You might be able to find a leftover new 2005 for that amount. As far as modifications go, how about getting the 350Z first.

you cant make a jap car sound like an american car. However there are some catbacks that give the Z an insane sound. Apexi n1, topspeed pro1- which is the exhuast im gettin shortly has the same tone as the stock Z accept its way louder, kinda like an exotic car loud. THe injen exhuast will cost you a pretty penny but will give you the grunt your rx8 didnt have. If your willing to spend some money try out the rsr catback. Friend of mine has an rx8- very nice car. Handles amazing. He wishes it had more torque like my z and power, so he is turboing it shortly. Trust me you will notice a world of difference between the two especially down low, but i give props to the rx8 its a dam nice car, and welcome to the forums.
