Default 2004 350z Base Transmission Program Problem ?

04 Base with 48k..

Normal driving, all of a sudden check engine light turns on. Rev's will not go any higher, let go the gas.. RPM stays at 1k, no response to throttle.

Rolling to a stop, turn off the car... turn it back on. Run's fine.... for a BLOCK, same problems re-occurs.

Lost of power with the engine light on... this happened before, un-plugged the Batt for an hour to re-set the ECU. Ran fine till today...

Just called Nissan, service manger said it sounds like a Transmission Program Problem. Wants me to bring it in...

With 48k... warrantee is over... WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Have anyone had this problem before?

Please advise...

Interesting. The transmission is part of the power train? And your power train warranty is what?

I believe that its 60 months or 60,000 miles. I wanted III50Z to check the book and see for himself.

There's a lot of good stuff in the books that you get with the car. BTW if you're a missing any manuals, you can find several for free at Courtesy Nissan.

Nissan said something is wrong with the throttle body. Trottle and gasket needs to be changed. It's NOT covered by warranty.

Parts and labor will cost $1100+

Im reading my Warranty Manual, under drivetrain. Which is covered 60 months, 60K miles.

ENGINE:
Cyliner Heads and block and all internal parts, rocker covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger, flywheel, seals and gaskets.

Is covered...

Am i getting ripped off here by the service manager?
Is the throttle body covered by warranty?

Yeah I would come back to him and have him clarify why it would not be covered under warranty. My understanding is that it would be covered since it is an "internal part" as outlined in the Engine explanation in the Powertrain Warranty. If that doesn't work go to another dealer (if possible) to get a second opinion or call Nissan directly...

The warranty is a typical auto warranty meaning that its “exclusive:” if them part isn't named in the warranty, then its not covered. Sorry.

Make a couple of calls and see what price is the throttle body. Try our sponsors and Courtesy. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn't the throttle body clearly visable at the inlet of the upper plenum?

Service manager, told me my problem isnt covered by warranty.

I asked him who makes the decision for that... he said "I do"
I told him to explain to me what is exactly covered by warranty... he said all moving parts of the engine. I told him the throttle body is a moving part and its hard for me to understand why it isnt covered.

I told him ill just take car back, they wanted to charged me $120!

I stood there *****ing... at the service manager, asking him to review the case again and ask the tech guy again.

5 min's pass... he came back and told me he would call me on monday to give me an update. He will try to manipulate the problem to have it covered by warranty.

So I have my fingers crossed.... if that wont work the TAB will be $1200 for parts and labor.

Man that is some bs. It shouldn't be more than 1 hour labor and I would check on the parts from somewhere else and do it yourself. On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the most difficult, I would put this as maybe 2 and that would be rating it high IMO.

I guess i got lucky... i was at the boiling pot and putting up a fit, almost grab his coffee cup and put it to the wall

I just kept say it's really hard for me to understand why the throttle body isnt covered by warranty. Its part of the engine and its a moving part.
