-At 18 y/o what could he have done to make running from the cops worth it?

-Not to be cold, but he got what he deserved. I just feel sorry for the families having to deal with the losses.

-In my opinion police should be held PARTIALLY responsible. In a hostage type situation when its police vs the criminal with other peoples safety at risk (hostages), the hostages safety is priority #1. And this situation should have been handled similiarly. Police should NEVER create an enviornment thats dangerous to innocent civilians just to catch a criminal. They should have moderately persuaded him to stop...when he didnt they should have gotten his license plate # and then did what police are suppose to do...INVESTIGATE...then catch him at a later time we he can be caught without anyone getting hurt. Someone a couple of pages back said that the chasee dicates the speed of the chase...but its no way he would have kept going that fast had the cops just backed off of him. Its a catch 22 though. If people knew police wouldnt chase them then youll have everyone smashin the gas as soon as they hear sirens...then youd have even more stuff like this happening anyway.

Got in on this a little late, but...

I hold no sympathy for someone who is willing to risk other people's lives driving like that. I do, however, sympathize for the other drivers on the road who end up dying needlessly, and for the kid's friends and family who have to deal with the loss...
