whats your Zs' avg gas mileage????
Holy crap, after I fill up my tank it always tells me I have little over 300 miles till empty. I have never been over 315.
Maybe mine is broken... Check these pictures out. Sometimes I get INCREDIBLE gas mileage, other times I get extremely shetty.
The white 350 is my cousins.

If I drive like grandma and wait till 30-40 miles AFTER my DTE shows "----" then fill up I can get 390-400 miles on a tank, and Ill still only put in 17.5-18.5 gallons in a 20 gallon tank. If I drive "spirited" and get gas shortly after the DTE meter displays "---" then I get 300-330 miles on a tank. The avg mpg shows 21.8 on mine.
Edit-to the guy above with 40+mph on the meter you are either incredibly retarded or being funny, either way Ill just
If your the former-you know you can reset it and drive with cruise control on(or slow and easy) and achieve very high average mph and very innaccurate numbers like that right?

I usually drive about 400 miles on a tank before I fill up, too. My computer usually says average speed is around 42 mph, and fuel consumption is around 24 mpg. I drive almost entirely on the interstate, so there's no stop and go for me, just go, which really helps the gas mileage, obviously.
For those who had the RX-8, when I had mine, I would get around 18-19 mpg taking exactly the same route. That's pathetic, and it's the reason I chose not to get another one when it was totaled.

DJB,
Amazingly I am in the same boat as you. I totalled my RX-8 and the reason why I am not getting the 8 again is because of the gas mileage. I got 17-18mpg shifting at 3.5k all the time in a 9.5k redline car. I mean, I wouldn't mind it if it was a high hp car but it's 170-180rwhp and it's getting gas mileage like the 2005 GTO! Matter of fact, the GTO has about 200+hp more and is getting better mileage than the 8.
Really considering the Z right now though, and getting good gas mileage is really making me lean towards the Z. I've test driven an 06 twice and I just love them, cept I'm going to have to get an 04 or 05 probably, can't afford the 06's I think.

Wow, I must have broken mine in right. I have taken a bunch of trips lately and have turned in some really good numbers. I am really easy on the gas, go the speed limit or less than 5mph over. I ease on the gas and brakes. I just went out and checked my car since we are on the topic. With about 1/2 a tank of gas left I am reading 29.7 mpg @ 52mph avg and 280miles total on the odometer. The DTE shows 181. Now that doesn't include the 3-4 gals the car holds in reserve. I am sure at 29.7 or even 28mpg I could make the 500 miles and then some. 28x18 = 504miles That's with 2 gals to spare; what I consider good but not my best mileage.
I have made the trip from Livermore to La Quinta, Ca. on one tank. That's really nice.
That is 470 miles door to door. The low fuel light came on just as I got into town. So, of course I filled up.
When I left, I left on 3/4 of tank of gas and gassed up half way home so I didn't get a reverse trip check like I normally do. I didn't think of it. I just wanted to get home. I did use a heavier foot and ran into head winds so I do not think I received as good of gas mileage as I did on the way. However, to me I proved my point to myself. That I could make it from one house to the other on one tank if I needed to.
Some Data-I use Mobil 1 5-30 and change my oil every 3K. I had been using Redline oil until it went out of sight. You see, it's not that the oil won't lube the motor after 3K with full syn. It's that you want to get all of the contaminates out of the motor. I also have a Popcharger and run my stock 17" tires at 35psi. Alignment is perfect and I had about 325 extra pounds of person and gear in the car. I also sport a G35 wing that might be helping. I use crystal guard on the car and it was perfectly clean when I left and just a little bit of dust on the car when I arrived.
On this mileage trail I used my Colgan Bra coated with crystal guard as well. I have an air splitter on the front of the car as well. The temperature was ~70 degrees. Below is a picture of the car in it's travel mode:

Just made another 26mpg run in 20%town and 80%freeway mixed. Ran freeway at 72mpg. Everyone is going so fast this time of year. I saw at least 4 cars exceeding 100mph on the 200mi trip.
I went to a x-mas lighted boat parade and dinner with the wife. It was cold but, fun !!

Look at the bag people. Ha, ha, ha ...... It was cold !!

Video clip came out pretty nice, but I just couldn't get the stills to take the way I wanted. These guys were moving through the area pretty fast this year.

Still a cool shot.... Just different. There was about 40 boat all decked the halls/hulls out.

26mpg avg is actually pretty avg for me. I get better many times. I do drive the car as a daily driver but, I drive at times I know I won't get stuck in stop and go. I imagine if I was to stop and go the car every mile I went it would be on the order of 16mph. Never seen mileage that low, never hope to either.

Don't forget: You don't always have to drive with a full tank. The weight reduces gas mileage as well. However, unless I am going on a long trip I top mine off once it hits about 1/2 tank. Just habit so I don't end up running out of gas if I have a long day with a lot of miles and can't get to a station.
