Default Window motors

Ok so how long have you had your Z and how many times have you had to have your electric window motors replaced?

Just when I think I could live with most of the quirks with the Z, somebody always has to mention one I almost forgot about.

I think the '05 motors are fixed properly from the factory? Or am I wrong? I bought a brand new '05 , have 17500 miles on it and they're still running fine.

23k miles on an '03; had to have the Driver's side window motor replaced recently. Warranty is about up; how much are these damn things if I have to shell out for it?

Are these window motor fixes included in the basic warranty? Or do I need to keep my extended warranty.

I am thinking of refunding my extended warranty because I spent $1600 for it and I am having a hard time justifying it.

I would say keep it. How bad would that suck if once you get about 60k miles on your Z you have to pay out of pocket for a new transmission or ECU, blown engine etc. BEN

I had mine replaced about a month ago, not sure if anyone else got the run around with this. When I first dropped it off, they never even looked at, but said from the sound I would need a new window regulator, and would take a day to order. Even mentioned the TSB about the window motor, and they were like it's def the regulator. The next day while fixing they said my aftermarket speaker wires got caught in the regulator, then said they would re-wire it for me for $250. Told them I would take back to where I got it installed to re-wire the speakers since they had screwed up. The service dept then told me if I did, it void the warranty on the regulator, then would have to pay for a new regulator. So was scrwed either way, so just told them to re-wire the speakers at their outrageous price. Well about an hour later get call back from the service dept telling me to forget the conversation we had earlier, they replaced the regulator and the window still didn't work. I actually needed a new motor, and everything was covered under warranty.

My 03' has had no problems at all with the windows or anything else really, tire feathering is barely noticable.

Hey guys would this work. I mean i really dont want to pay the dealer an arm and a leg for a freaking motor. I have an 03 with 44K miles on it and my window motor went out about few weeks ago and i feel so ghetto driving it around like that.

Does anyone know any places where i can actually buy a window motor.

Thanks,

I have had my Z for almost three years, and have 25.5k miles. I had to have the drivers side window motor replaced one time like two years ago I believe.
