I have a story to tell. About 10 years back (1996). I purchased a 1990 300ZX with 65,000 miles. The dealer offered to sell me a extended warranty for 2 years/24,000 miles at $1,200. I originally wasn't going to get it, but since it was a used sports car, I decided it might be a good idea. As it turned out, I was lucky to have got it. A few weeks after buying the car it started making a lite ticking sound from the engine at idle. I take it to the dealer, he says it's the VTC sprockets in the engine $1,800 for repair, which was covered by the extended warranty after a $50 deductible. So out of the gate i'm up $250 on the warranty company. In the time the warranty was valid I used it for over $6,000 in repairs which the settled directly with the Nissan dealer after my $50 deductible per incident. Dealer was very helpful in getting the repairs covered through the warranty.

So, IMHO I would never buy a used car without a extended warranty. On my 2004 350ZR, I got the 6 year/100,000 mile with $50 deductible for $1,700. Only catch is you plan on modding the car heavily, it's probably not worth getting the warranty since they can use that to deny coverage.

ok so is my dealership just simply trying to rip me off really badly or what gives because you guys are paying pretty well under 2000 for the top warranty which like i mentioned before they quoted me at 2500+tax for it. Can i just call up one of the dealerships you guys bought yours at and get it for that price or is this option not possible?

Yea, dealer is charging way too much for the warranty. You can purchase the extended warranty from any nissan dealer any time while the vehicle is still covered under the manufacturers warranty. So you can either use this as a negotiating tool with the dealer or you can simply buy it elsewhere.

dealer cost is 974.00 with 50.00 deductible, I would let you have it for 100.00 over cost. 800-798-9826 ask for the finance office. I will fax you the cost sheet if you need to see it. 84/100 for 1095.00 with 100.00 over cost.
This is who I called to get my 72/75k gold for $625 + 100... I was thinking about trying to use that $625 invoice sheet to get a local dealer to beat his price but after tax they would have to beat it by like $75 to make it cheaper and I wasn't going to fight for $25.

seems like a good deal. I spent $1700 on mine and I thought I got a deal

I just returned my extended warranty too! Got $2000 back!!! (gee, I got ripped off, huh?) My payments stay the same and the $2000 goes directly to the bank that holds my title since I'm financing it, but that's totally fine with me.

extended warranty is totally a waste of money unless your buying a used BMW.

Yeah, I paid 1500 for 6 years/75000 miles. With the way I drive my car will have 60000 miles on it at the end of 3 years so I'm goin refund mine today. I cant see paying 1500 for another year, maybe less, of coverage. And I want to get started on my mods. But thats beside the point
