Unhappy Diminished Value

I have had a bad front-end collision. They are expecting 10k worth of repairs, but that isn't checking the drivetrain, and it doesn't include the Drivers side rail assembly which can run 5-6k alone. They said the salvage value is 8k. My '04 Enthusiast books at 25350, so I am about 7k shy on them totalling it. My question, is about the value of the car after such an accident. How much would you think one would have to knock off of the price to sell it if it was repaired?? My goal is to get the Insurance company to right it off by telling them I want the difference of the book value before and after the repairs.

its diminished value...and usually you have to pay an adjuster to do it...they range anywhere from 200-500...there usually has to have frame damage for the claim to be considered

SpeedRcr used the correct term “diminished value.” You want your insurance to compensate you for diminished value? I wish I could be more optimistic about the probability, but good luck.

Default Diminished Value

The passenger rail (which was explained to me by my adjuster as a frame member because of it being a unibody) is jacked up and is most of the 10k right now. Until the other adjuster, for the person at fault, takes a look, I won't know any more. I am just trying to prepare my case for them totalling it. I don't think it should be repaired, and I am not sure I want it repaired with all of the potential future headaches. For instance, does the extended warranty cover anything that has been replaced due to an accident?? How can Nissan warranty work by a third party with parts they have no way of controlling?

You have entered into a “foggy” area. If Nissan replaces a clutch for example, generally the clutch is good for 12 months/12,000 miles. If the item is OEM, and if it was installed competently, I assume that the item is covered by Nissan.
