Look at the stock tire reviews. They are $185 for the Front, and $190 for the rear. Look at the review scores!

Dry Traction - 8.0
Wet Traction - 6.3
Hydro Resistance - 6.1
Snow Traction - N/A (summer tire)
Cornering Stability - 7.5
Steering Response - 7.6
Ride Comfort - 5.8
Noise Comfort- 5.1
Tread Wear- 4.3
Average - 6.33 (didn't count snow traction)

Kumho ECSTA ASX , Front tires cost $91 and Rear tires cost $106

Dry Traction - 8.6
Wet Traction - 8.2
Hydro Resistance - 8.2
Snow Traction - 7.1
Cornering Stability - 8.0
Steering Response - 8.1
Ride Comfort - 8.4
Noise Comfort- 8.3
Tread Wear- 8.1
Average - 8.11 (including snow traction) 8.23 (excluding snow traction)

Yeah, I know what i'm going to buy when my Potenza's wear out. 736 to give these kinds of averages is pretty good.
I wouldnt go with ASX ...
I'd go with either the supra or the MX... (both summers)
and i live around philly... just be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY careful when its wet/cold and drive SLOOOOOWWWwww when it snows... in the winter...
We get more warm days than cold days so...

Then u can take ur car to the local auto-x or track and it'd be better with summers than asx

So is the Ecsta an all season tire (given it has a snow rating)? I can't imagine how any all season tire can outperform even the crappiest summer tire given the different compounds used.

The Ecsta class has several tires in it. The ASX is simply an all season tire...where was there are others that are not.

As for performance....a lot of it has to to with tread pattern and the overall tire structure. Compound is important...but it's not the end all, be all.

When you go to the track, your timeslip gives you a variety of info such as 1/4 mile time and trap speed. It also gives you 1/8 mile time and 60ft times. Your 60 ft time is, well... essentially how fast it takes you to go 60 feet. Why is this significant? Because this time gives you an indication of how well you launched your car. A 1.9s/2.0s 60 ft. time in a Z isn't bad. The launch is where a lot of drivers, myself included, need to get better at to nail better 1/4 miles times. A difference of 0.3s (for example, a 1.7s vs. 2.0s 60ft) can make the difference between a 14 sec 1/4 mile and a 1/4 mile in the 13 sec's.

How well have your tires been holding up? How many miles do you anticipate getting out of them? I was reading some reviews on them, and they seem to have great ratings in every category (wet/dry traction, road noise, ride comfort, etc).

The re040s squeal like a ****, but overall, I think they're a decent tire.

What type of tires do the track models come equipped with?
