I have a similar problem. When I shift from 4th gear to 6th gear (popular for me since I like to short shift after rowing through the first four gears), I get grinding now unless I double clutch or go through 5th. The other day I also got it to grind from 5th to 6th. All of my lower gears are fine and there are no problems with downshifting. I have 31K miles and the previous owner also had a new tranny put in.

I am making an appointment to have it swapped under warranty tommorrow (the parts are already in). It takes an entire day (drop off car early, pick up before close) to swap it out. They offered to do the clutch while they were in there, but I opted to not get a new one. Plus if this one wears out it's time to go aftermarket.
