Default Starting Synthetic at 29k?

Hey I just bought my Z, 2003 and its got no feathering ;p, anywho the lady who owned it before me probably didn't use synthetic oil and I was wondering if it was ok to convert over when it hits 30k. I already bought a new oil filter and the synthetic so I hope im good to go...any comments or reasons why I shouldn't change over?

No Problems with switching over, though I have heard some have burned a little oil the first time arounf.
So after the change just keep a eye on the oil level for a few hundred miles and fill if needed.
Shouldnt have to worry about it again

Also most people here are using Mobil-1 full synth. 5w-30 and the oem filter
I use a K&N filter instead both are good

5W-30 is more common for Z users but there no problems with 5w-20 maybe next time go for 5w-30

Just be aware that if you use the K & N filter and your motor blows because of the oil lines being blocked..... NISSAN will blame this your non-stock filter for the failure and you'll be buying a motor. I have heard of three VQ motors that were not replaced by NISSAN for this reason.

The stock filter works great and is cheaper than the K & N. Why risk it?

who makes the stock filter? I don't go the the dealership for oil changes. Is the stock filter better than WIKS who some body else on the board recommended?

An oiled filter and oil filter are two different things. And once again the Nismo intake is made by Nissan.

I KNOW a lot of people run synthetic. i have also noticed a few people burning oil. i have not paid attention if there is any corrolation between these two groups but.........the owner's manual states that synthetic should not be used and a conventional motor oil should be used. i use castrol gtx 5w-30 and have zero oil buring and zero problems with oil pressure. i dont think it would be a huge deal, but i used to have a civic with a b18c. when i got it i ran mobil 1. it burned B A D. i switched to castrol full synthetic and the burning was reduced by half. i would stick with a conventional oil and good filter, but thats just me.

uhh no shhhit...I was stating the fact that the nismo CAI uses and "OILED" filter as the K&N drop in "AIR" filter is an oiled filter...and how that could nissan could void your warranty since the "OILED" "AIR" filters operate on the same idea...doesn't make sense

and I've used synth...synth blends...dino...swapped back and forth..on hi & low mileage vehicles for years now without any issues...My Z, dino at break in, synth ever since...

5w40 synth (rotella) in my 95 jeep cherokee (208K)
boschs(sp), STP and crappy Fram "OIL" filters
K&N drop in "AIR" filter

5w30 mobil 1 in the Z (13K)
stock "OIL" fliter
K&N...now NISMO CAI
