And calling something "rice" is purely meant as a way to point out that the value of something that looks performance oriented is purely aesthetic...but the driver thinks it does help performance.

Damn right it's about lust!!! I've always wanted a 300ZXTT but back then the insurance would've cost me more than the car but now I finally have my 350Z and hope to keep this car forever just like them cats that still have their 240'z. Plus my father had one back in the day too. This is my first TRUE sports car also. I had an Accord that was all jazzed up but to be totally honest, even with the wheels and suspension it never felt as great as the Z did straight out the box. I can't wait till the day I get that 911TT.
