High-flow catalytic converters should not be a problem:
1. Plug into OBDII and get a read out. The technician will look for SES codes. No codes - no problem.
2. Sniffer test: many high-flow catalytic converters have passed California sniffer test, some of the most stringent tolerances in the U.S.
3. Visual inspection: some high-flow cats look similar to the OEM catalytic converters. The technician won’t know the difference.

We don't test here in Beaumont [yet] ,and if they do visuals I'd stay away from cats. like random technology, stick with OEM looking cats.

In OR it's every two years you have to test, and it's a pretty easy swap to put the cats back on for the test. Don't know that the test pipes would pass, but wouldn't even bother finding out.
