Love the video. Not because of the review, but of the cornering and drifting that guy did. I love seeing that stuff. Had a huge smile on my face when he was driving the 350Z. He looked so calm doing all those corners. LOL.

I`m actually surprised the TT didn`t win. AWD is a huge adventage on the track. Maybe the fact he had more "fun" driving the Z (prononced Zed might I add ) affect his lap time ?

 

AWD isn't as much of an advantage on the track as most people think. In fact under most track circumstances it is actually a handicap. This was a great video...

Didn't quattro get outlawed on some of the euro racing circuts b/c it was unfair?

 

That's why I'm surprised.

And also why I'm wondering if the "No fun" factor played a large part it M. Needle's lap time.

I really doubt the AWD is what got the TT a slower lap time. 1.8T engine, older chassis, suspension settings probaly have a lot more to do.

AWD is banned from most racing series for good reasons. It takes a track with reeeeaaaallly long straights to offset the added speed you can carry in corner, or some pretty large HP figures.

 

Here also. Audis A8 just killed the Camaros and Vettes.

 

Like I said, AWD isn't everything. I didn't say it was useless so calm down and take a few deep breaths. I was merely implying that under some track conditions it offers no advantage and can even be a handicap. Every car has its strong points and weak points and they have them for certain reasons. Just because a car has AWD doesn’t make it a supercar. This video is a perfect example of it...

 

yeah in most awd cars, there is consistant and pronounced understeer. A very neutral RWD car will be much more consistant and controlable especially under fair weather conditions.
