Default warranty info.

Can anyone tell me everything and anything that can void a warranty?? I bought the extended warranty and if thing I want to void it, I'm going to refund it and just keep the one that comes with it.

I have yet to figure out why there are so many “Can I sell my extended warranty?” posts?

But to answer you question, your warranty tells you what voids the warranty. Its one of many paragraphs which begins “We are not responsible...”

Am I right in thinking that there has to be a problem directly related to the mod to void the warranty?? And does anyone think the extended warranty is worth it, or the regular warranty good enough??

How does one go about cashing in the extended warranty? I plan to go FI soon and would like to cash it in since it will be voided anyway. If someone could give me some advice on this or point me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it.

Sorry for the thread jack by the way...

The problem with most extended warranties is that they are not usually through the manufacturer as they are outside companies. Dealers get paid very well for warranty work from the manufacturer up to the end of your 36,000 miles, when some extended coverages take over thats when YOUR misery begins. Dealers must contact these companies before any work can be done, sometimes the Co. will sent a rep. out to inspect your damage, this can take more time your willing to give, I've seen this in many many cases.

You need to get familiar with the Magnusson-Moss act. This governs the use of non-OEM parts on cars. Also, (and I know people hate to hear this, but...) give the search function a try. This is an age old question here on the forum. Lots of info if you just look for it.

So back to the question. What is involved in refunding the extended warranty?

I have the Nissan gold package(It was about $1,000) which gives me up to 100,000 miles and 72 months from in service date. I still have another 2.5 years of warranty on my 03 when most have run out already. I get an extra year over the standard 60 month drivetrain and I already had one tranny replaced. . Chances are I might not need it, but it is piece of mind just in case. I spent 30k on the car, what's another grand for piece of mind? Remember dealers get PAID to do warranty work. Most are not going to give you a hard time because of mods unless it's a Turbo that Blew your engine. Find a MOD friendly dealer to have your work done at. Let them install some of your mods and get to know them. They'll take care of you.

Not all dealers are mod friendly, I've seen my share of a-hole service writers so if you find modd-friendly one you are sooooo lucky.
