the differences are so subtle that i would say it would make no difference what so ever. the over all shape is nearly identical, the biggest factor is quality of paint and nissan seems to be a little lacking in that department
no. i was talking about paint quality overall being a factor in paint chips on any car. the 2006 paint is the same to my knowledge.
as for a bumper being less prone to paint chips i would say it would need to be more long and slopping than the short, blunt face of the OEM Z bumper. maybe a bigger mouth opening would help also but even with that a rock chip can hit anywhere so its basically luck and how you drive ( tailgating)
I have a brand new '06 and I have small chips from rocks. I don't know how it stacks up to the previous years, but they are there reguardless. With a car this low to the ground I don't see how Nissan could do much to prevent them completely.
