Nissan trickery?

It seems there's been many internet sightings that have the soon to be release HP. There are those of us who think that these numbers are from pre-production cars. Does anyone think the production HP numbers will be higher? I for one really freaking hope so. Maybe in the 290's or higher
We won't know until at least July 3rd. But in my opinion, the car will have 287 HP, just like the CD said. But there is nothing wrong with wishful thinking.... I believe they could tune the car to 300...but did they? Probably not. But I hope so.
I believe, that the hp will be published at 287hp, but in real life, it will be 300hp.
We will find out when we dyno the car
Note- the above statement is solely my opinion only.

287/297......what's the difference. I don't think you'll notice a difference at this point, except for a psychological effect on you. Now if want to tell me we can install another 40 or 50 hp into it easily and cheaply then let's talk about it. I would start with a cold air intake, exhaust (but could be expensive), a hotter eprom?
Hmm, still don't see 50 more hp with that stuff yet and wouldn't want to go inside the motor at this point which would be very expensive and void warrenty. After a few years of ownership we'll know a lot more about this motor and their should be a lot of stuff to do. I wish I could see room for twin turbo's but it's pretty tight in there. Their will be a work-around I bet though. But I'm happy with 287 (for now) and I predicted 286 a long time ago. Great job NISSAN I think and I thank you for everything.
Be happy, you have every reason to be.

There is no trickery here. The Z will have 287HP as stated. Nissan originally promised HP of 260+, anything above that I feel is a bonus.
Sure everyone would always love more HP. Guess we will have to wait for a SC or TT in future models.
More HP=$$$$$$ and I believe they wanted to see how well the car would sell first.

I'm perfectly happy with 287. Besides, adding a cold air intake should put you just under 300 if the HP is truely going to be 287.

It's an intake that is designed to get air from outside the engine bay, therefore it's colder air and you get more HP from cooler air than warm air. Like the pic below, notice how the filter is down towards the ground, enabling the CAI to suck cold air.
Cold air intake just replaces the stock air intake for the intake manifold. It draws air right from the front grill and is more free flowing with custom filter. It is not too expensive and will add HP. I will do this right away and it may be the only thing I ever do to the car. Everything get's expensive after that.
