Default anybody lease their car? if so how much r u paying?

also specify what is the model (enth., touring, track etc.)

I want to make sure this avenue is exhausted before I decide on buying or leasing. I need all the possible facts for my research.

thanks guys for the quick response. If you don't mind answering few more question.

1. what was the residual value of the 3 yr lease and 4 yr lease?
2. what was the money factor?
3. was this independent 3rd party lease or was it via dealer?

Congrats to both of you and can't wait to see the pix.

Can anyone point out the differences between leasing-to-own and purchasing one from the outset?

I guess the factors involved would depend on residual value (lump sum payment to buy at end of lease period), interest rate on a loan vs money factor on a lease, mileage and total up front costs.

I'm currently planning to buy, but perhaps it would make sense to lease one for 3 yrs, then deciding at the end whether I want to buy it. In general, is there a downside to this compared to a standard loan/purchase?

What about tax deductions for depreciation vs lease payments? What's the useful (depreciable) life on a car, 5 yrs?

My lease is through the Dealer. I'll know more when I look at the paperwork next week. I'll keep you posted

I put $4500 on a 39mo lease for an Enth and I'm paying $457 w/ tax. Hmm...seems like I'm paying more than others. 54% residual.

Buyout at the end of mine was $16287. I'm looking at my paperwork and just wondering--- there is a line for rent charge, I guess that is the money factor.

Does my monthly payment seem outta whack?

I was offered purchase price of $545/month for 60 months, $1000 down.

Lease was $450/month for 60 months, $1000 down, $12,000 residual.

Otown, IMO, you're definitely paying more than you probably should. That's a fairly big down payment and you're monthly is still pretty high. Look at you're lease paperwork and see what the "gross capitalized cost" is. That's how much the dealer "charged" you for your car. Is it over MSRP? By how much?

P.S. The Nissan website payment estimator calculates a $333.66 lease payment with 4,500 down for 39 months based on MSRP of just under $29,000, for all that's worth.

Well, the calc on their website doesn't include taxes or any fees. You don't know what residual values they are using or money factor.

The price I paid was MSRP, plus taxes,destination--but there wasn't anything funny added on top. On an enth with all that added the price is just over 31k.

They went over the numbers is pretty good detail, and honestly we were a little surprised at the monthly payment--but it seemed to be legit. The only number I'm wondering about is the 'rent charge' but I asked about that and it is pretty much interest that seemed legit.

I did my lease at the very end of dec. so maybe Nissan was previously using 55% as a residual and on mine they were using 54%--- I know that 1% can make a big difference.
