Nissan 350Z Scoops First Award Of 2006

The acclaimed Nissan 350Z has picked up its first award of 2006, collecting the Coupé of the Year trophy in the inaugural Test Drive Car of the Year awards, announced in the February issue.

Beating off competition from the Mazda RX-8 and the Hyundai Coupé, the 350Z was praised by Test Drive for its looks inside and out and of course, its performance.

Describing why the 350Z romped home with the coupé crown, Test Drive explained, "The Nissan looks every inch the tyre-shredding muscle car it is. Looks can deceive but not this time. This coupé has the performance to back up every sharp arc, hungry air-intake and bulging wheelarch.

"Few cars truly celebrate the driving experience as enthusiastically as the Z. It’s definitely not for those who want a coupé with a gentle touch."

Since its launch, back in October 2003, the 350Z has been consistently collecting awards and praise from all areas of the media including Top Gear Magazine Car of the Year in 2004 and FHM Magazine Car of the Year in 2005.

A revised version of the 350Z will go on sale in spring this year with more power from a higher revving engine (300PS and 7000 rpm max), a refreshed exterior with restyled front end and new look headlamps and LED tail-lamps. The interior is also improved with repositioned switchgear, soft-feel materials, greater storage opportunities, factory-fitted navigation option, speed dependent power steering and standard Bluetooth phone integration (coupé only)

Sweet news. Glad the 350Z is getting some awards. Thanks for the link. I wish they listed all the cars that it was competting with to get the title.
