hmmm...

front wheel drive vs. rear wheel drive... they feel very different...
i'd rather have the rear wheel drive (for the experience and feelings)....

and remainder of 29K?? that is way too much! how much is the sticker on that enthu??? make sure you check and compare the prices before buying..

I, too, wanted to get RSX-S, but after test driving, decided to wait for something different... that was 1.5 years ago...

anyhow.. it seems like you had a whole lot done to your RSX.. why not keep it for a while and let the 350Z run through for a couple of model years ... then see how you feel!!

Hey, welcome to the Forum. Good to hear from you.

As you've figured out, since your car is fairly new you would probably take a big cash hit if you sold it now, especially if you traded it to a dealer! Your best bet, if you decide to get a Z, would be to sell it outright to a person that wants your exact car, someone that would appreciate all you've done to it. That way you would have more $$$ to put down on the Z.

The Enthusiast is probably the model that gets you the most Z for the money, especially since it sounds like you would be modding it later on.

But it's perhaps a tough decision right now for you. You have a good car now, but the Z is also a good car. Only you can decide after weighing all of the factors, including resale value of your RSX, procurement price of your Z, and any differences in insurance (i.e., all owning, operating, and maintaining costs).

I had bought a 2000 Civic Si new and loved the car. When I found out about the Z, though, I knew I'd like it even better. (Of course, there's no real comparison, but I had to weigh the same factors that you have to consider.) Since I could afford the Z, and other factors were evaluated to my satisfaction, I decided to go for it. I took a minor hit on reselling my Si, but it had held its value quite well. There's a slight increase in insurance, and a significant increase in gas costs. But I like my Z! It was the right choice for me. Hope you make the right choice, considering all your circumstances and relevant factors!

See you on the forum.

first off wayyy too much money on the Z, your saying 46000$? Im assuming your getting 17, and putting it towards the MSRP of 29k of an enthusiast Z.

for 12k you get a Z. plus what you owe on the RSX. I was gonna get an RSX too, but it wasnt what I thought it was, it was a coupe sans sports, or not enough anyway. different car, it was quite luxurious for its price, more than the Z, and of course the back seats.

dont turbo the rsx if its not what you want, you drop 5k into it and youll be able to match a Z maybe, well you just spent 30grand... why not just get the Z, and have endless possibilities?

Id reccomend selling it yourself, just toss it in the paper, see what you can get, try for 19k, or 18. more than they were gonna give you. but make sure its enough more, cause if you buy a 30k car, and trade in 17000, you only pay tax on 13000, at 8% tax is 1360$ that you save in tax, meaning you have to make atleast like 18300 by selling it yourself, to make it worthwhile.

from your comment of

they ran my rsx up and offered 17500 for it and pay the difference of 29000 for the z
must have just been bad wording. you made it sound like they offered 17500, and that left you with a difference of 29000.

I am not a big fan of hyper modding a car.

My friend had a civic Si (1999) and had it pumped up to 300 hp (or more) it could probably take a C5 in a straight line. But he ended up dumping it and lost A TON of money in the deal.

He basically had trouble with the fuel maping or something and the car wasn't reliable so after $32K (car + mods) he unloaded it for $15K (as is not running).

My feeling is don't spend a lot of money especially on a FWD car.

FWD is great for transportation, but for max performance I'd go with RWD or AWD car.

My advice is trade it in if you can swing it.

just imagine it with tires that dont suck.

fwd spins a bit too much for my liking, and with alot of power(turbo) your NEVER gonna get rid of that damn understeer. I should just put this in my sig, but buy the car that does what you want, dont try to make a car something its not. thats not cost effective.
