Last time I checked, my buddie's brand new TL had no NAV.

Theres a reason why you plunked down 29-34k for a 350z, over another Honda or Acura. Im sure it's not for the "standard nav".

Save us from the fluff!

I'd be happy with a slightly upgraded interior and a bit more HP. IMO, that could be accomplished while retaining the Z's essential personality as an affordable RWD sports car.

I was hoping to get people to react and tell everyone what how they would improve the Z. Some of the items I suggested in retrospect may not be that good an idea, but we are thinking about it and that's a good thing. I

"(1) Power retractable rear view door mirrors"

The large majority of the population would never use such a feature. Maybe it would be nice if you had a super skinny garage, but for most of us that is not an issue. The large majority of the population is not going to pay for a feature only a few people would ever use. If you want this, DIY.

"(2) engine bay lighting"

It could use some.

"(3) power antennae"

Added weight. Just something extra to break. Extra maintenance. No thanks.

"(4) power adjustable interior rear view mirror"

Oh dear god. If you're one of those people who are too lazy to reach up and adjust the mirror you shouldn't even be driving yourself. That's just pathetic.

"(5) HUD - heads up display on windshield"

I could see something like this being an added option to the high end models, not a bad idea. Definitely would add to the "cool" factor.

"(6) power rear hatch release"

The Z already has one. It's called a key fob. There is a latch in the back as well.

"(7) memory seating"

....since most Z's are driven by 10 different people?

"(8) Auto door locking (doors lock when you reach 20mph)"

If I want my doors locked, I can push the button. Not a bad idea though.

"(9) Speed sensitive automatic engaging spoiler"

No real benfit. Added weight. Impossible with the current cars design. It is a hatchback, you know? LOL.

"(10) All wheel drive (as an option)"

I think you meant to say turbo. All wheel drive would completely destroy the cars handling and stance, not to mention put less HP to the ground, and it would go completely against it's predecessors. I don't just say no to this, I say HELL NO!

I Will have to agree with you on this especially number 10.. Alot are going to disagree but I am firm in my belief against awd setups. I believe in rwd, to me awd seems like just another for of traction control something I don't need. Suggestion wise I would position the engine a little more behind the front wheel to clean up that weight distribution and eliminate a touring model... who needs radios, leather, comforts, cupholders hahaha, etc

Thats why you drive with the doors locked so no one can get in your car when you are stopped at a light.

All of those things listed would not make the Z a world class car. IMO the Z is already a world class car because there is nowhere else on the planet where you can get a 300hp 2 seater rear drive car that can do 160mph for under 30K. The only thing I agree on the list was the antenna. Instaed of having it on the rear fender it should be on the roof like how Audi's have them. The HUD is already available from DEFI. Things to upgrade are add twin turbo's from the factory, make it weigh 2500lbs., have its own chassis and frame, and have brembo's standard on all models. It should do 0-60 in 4.5 and the 1/4 in under 13 and it should run for under 45K. That would make a world class car even more world class. Some of you said the suspension needed work. Are you guys kidding me? The stock car can already do .91 lateral g's and hit the slalom at 74mph. And the car is low enough. Also AWD will never happend because the Z has a heritage of being RWD. Like the Mustang and Corvette. You think Ford or Chevy will mess with their icons and switch them to AWD in the near future? I think not. What makes you think Nissan would do the same? Go buy yourslef a Subaru. I think for those that want all the luxury items need to stick with a G35 or a 330i. The heated leather on the touring plus nav is all the luxury the Z needs.

All Z's come with a radio, cupholders, comforts. Only touring and GT models offer leather. The weight distribution is perferct at 53/47. You don't a perfect 50/50 because when cornering the weight transfers to the back and it becomes 47/53. On the Z it hits the sweet spot of 50/50 during cornering and then goes back to 53/47 when you exit the turn.

My 280Z had a factory installed engine bay light with about a 3 ft extension cord. It came in handy on many an occasion. It also made it 30 years without burning out. Wow!

I guess it must not have been popular, or we'd still have it.
