I got a ticket for improper lane change. I got to my apartment and a car pulled behind me and it was an off duty police man. He said I was driving recklessly. Another officer showed up and they wrote me a ticket. However I think the one that wrote the ticket was off duty. Can he do that? He let me off easy for what he could have done. Does anyone know how many points this is in Georgia?

I was messing around with a buddy and weaving WITHIN my lane. Then the road has 3 lanes. The left lane goes around a bend to the left, the right lane goes straight and the middle lane goes either way. I was in the middle lane like I was going lft and then at the last second I swerved back to go straight, but I didnt cross any lines. The only other thing I can think of is I might not have used my turn signals when switching lanes.

Whatever it was go to court!
(I'm not a lawer, and it's not a legal advise, of course)
I believe pig had to be on duty to give you a ticket. In some states he also has to be in specially marked car. If one off-duty pig saw you, and another on-duty show up and gave you a ticket, they both had to be in court in order to testify, wich rise you chanses by 50% right away.
Always go to court to fight your ticket. As an option you can get free half an hour talk with a lawer. Or just search the internet for your line of defence.

I meant that farther down the road I may not have used turn signals. My apt. is about 3 miles from where this was. You have it right on the lanes though. I could not find anything on that violation name so I put in the code and this is what I found
40-6-48.
Whenever any roadway has been divided into two or more clearly
marked lanes for traffic, the following rules, in addition to all
others consistent with this Code section, shall apply:
(1) A vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely
within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until
the driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made
with safety;
(2) Upon a roadway which is divided into three lanes, and provides
for two-way movement of traffic, with two lanes in one direction,
a vehicle being driven in a continuous or center lane shall have
the right of way when overtaking and passing another vehicle
traveling in the same direction;
