Here the situation, my 03 came with the Bose system as well as the navi. For the past 3 months, little or no sound is coming out when playing CDs, it is fine when switched to FM/AM. So obviously, its the CD player that's causing the problem. Since I already have close to 43k miles on the car, the dealer's not gonna do anything. So here's my plan. I love the navi and would never get rid of it. I'm thinking maybe getting a head unit w/screen that plays CDs, DVDs, and MP3s so I can have dual screen actions, one for navi and one for movies. My main question is, is this kind of setup possible? Will the audio from the navi work with a new unit like the Bose? I'm not too "educated" in the audio and electrical department so any suggestions or advices are greatly appreaciated.

Chances are that the navigation will not play through an aftermarket head unit. I would even go as far to say if its not connected to the original bose head unit it might not function at all. If the current Nav uses the speakers of the audio system to play sounds and voice they are connected together. I dont have Nav in my Z personally so I am not 100% sure but I am very familiar with how OEM stereo setups function. I would search through the forums and try to find someone else who has stock Nav with aftermarket head unit
i've had a similar problem with my cd player. i don't have the bose system, but the cd tends to get stuck in there and it won't play or eject. an error message comes up and i'm basically stuck listening to the radio only.
i disconnected my battery (non-related to the radio situation) and now the cd player works again. its kinda strange.
so hopefully it fixed itself and if/when it breaks again i hope it does before my warranty expires.

I had this problem with my old Infiniti before with a Bose. Eventually it gave in and died. I think there is a QC problem with Bose made for Nissan. I would get an aftermarket head unit.

In my o3, I went thru 3 of the units and Finaly gave up. CD player would not play in cold weather. Always skiped. I just installed an Alpine 9860. I have Screen and now have DVD, MP3 and I have the Alpine Ipod interface set up as well. This is great! I have like 3,000 songs anytime I need them. I have my old Blose Head unit if you need it make me an offer?
