And they couldn't just fix it? I bought my Z used and the previous owner said that it did have the tire feathering problem but he had gotten it fixed under the TSB. He even had the documentation on it which he gave to me with the car. Since I have owned it I have put just a little over 10k miles on it and the tires look fine, no feathering whatsoever....
No they couldn't fix it. I had 2 free sets and had 2 alignments even with the new TSB. I had to pay for the last set of tires myself because they did not honor the extended warrantee. That was the last straw.
I don't think I'm the only one with the tire problem. I personally know 2 other people with the same problem. There's lots of posts on other site with the problem.
I did not want to sell it to someone else knowing that this problem wasn't fixable for me. I think I put enough effort to "fix" the problem but when they won't honor the warrantee and pretend like they have no idea what I'm talking about. Claiming that I drove the car too hard.....I baby my car.
Oh well, good luck to you all. I'm giving it another year and check back before considering another Z.

If you own an 03 that doesn't feather the tires then you are one lucky SOB! I went through 2 sets of RE040 and one set of Toyo T1-S tires before finally getting some adjustable front A-Arms to help create a more adjustable front end. So far so good and I now have some really nice A-Arms with great adjustability!
I solved the problem on my '03 by having an independent shop set the alignment and I also bought 4 new Michelin Pilot Sports. 12,000 miles later and still no problems. It came out of my pocket but it was worth it. I am convinced that the majority of the Nissan dealers do not have good alignment machines and the Potenzas are crap.
What kind of preparation did you have to do before you turned your car in. I just won the suit also with Krohn and Moss, but will turn in my 2004 next week. I have quite a bit of paint chips, a 4 in scratch below the driver side door, and my front bumper on the right corner on the bottom edge has scraped the pavement a few too many times. Did they take any money out for reconditioning?
