Default Would insurance be cheaper or equal on a 350Z than a Tiburon?

I'm 18 and have a Tiburon, which I am not happy with at all. I've always loved 350Zs. Anyhow, I was talking with someone and they said that the insurance on 350Zs was cheaper since the majority of drivers are 25+, while on Tiburons it is 16-20, which cause the majority of accidents.

Could it be cheaper or no?

Alot of it depends on where you live and your driving record. A Tiburon costs about half of what a Z cost, so I highly doubt a Z will be cheaper to insure.

Florida, where they rape you on insurance. Perfect driving record.

It is a $17,000 Tiburon and I am looking to buy a used 350Z for $20,000

go online and get a quote so you have an idea... pull a VIN off ebay or autotrader so you have something solid to compare.

Another thing to consider is repairs. Is the Tiburon under warranty (being a Hydunai, I would assume so)? The used Z may not have a warranty. I would hate for someone to get in over their head.

Call your insurance company and ask for a quote.

If you get a Z with side and curtain airbags, maybe your insurance could be cheaper.

However, going to a V6 from a 4-cyl usually increases the insurance.

It will probably be more with the Z, but not by much.

Also try to get a good student discount if you don't have one already.
And if you're a bad student, stop worrying about cars and STUDY

If all other factors are the same, I would say the Z hands down. Simply by the fact that its better performance numbers will bump it up in cost. I believe the cost for parts on the Z is also more expensive.

Like Wired 24/7 said, there are alot of discounts out there, if anything, put it under your parents name! I currently pay $540/6 months for mine.

My bad. In that case, who knows? Maybe it will be about the same or less in a Z.

Seriously though, you won't know until you get a quote. So go to it - make some calls instead of just browsing the forums!

Putting it under your parents name is definitely a good idea.

Common sence??

Z much more power
more expencive
not as common
higher replacement costs/ parts
higher top speed/ RWD

what do YOU think??

if all else fails.. Call Your Agent.... shouldnt cost to call, much more acurate with all your info, much faster, ect ect

I had a tib before I got my Z and my insurance stayed the same. I'm 26, so I don't know how insurance is where you are but if your a male and under 25 insurance is expensive, once you are 25+ rates drop alot. So I wouldn't imagine your insurance should go up too much if at all.

i went from an 03' VW GTI to an 03' Touring Z. Full coverage exactly the same policy, 21yrs old with a clean record, one non-moving claim.

My insurance on the GTI was $1200/6 mo.

When i got the Z Farmers dropped me because it was considered a "high risk" vehicle and the put me under another one of their policies.

The Z is $1100/6 mo...

Not too bad i guess, wish i was 25 and married --> wait no i don't

some of you really need to understand more aobut insurance before talking out of your ***

It will vary state-to-state. Some it will be more, some it will be less. E.g., My g35 coupe is almost 1/2 what I was paying on my mustang (bought when i was 20) - reason - insurance company felt only 50+yr olds drive G35 coupes, so I got lumped into their category.......fewer accidents/tickets in that category than in the category I was with mustangs.
