Yes if you know what your doing you can clean or "scrubb" the title out by transferring to certain states.

 

I work in a dealership and we see flood damaged cars all the time... trust me when I say that flood=eletrical disaster. The only perk of a flood damaged car is if it will be used for either a shell for a pure track car(no electronics or complete electronics swap i.e. the infamous RB26 or SR20 swap) or as a "parts car" for a collision damaged Z.

 

I've had my car for two years and and 28,000 miles... no electrical disaster.. depends how long the car was in water and how far up the car the water went.. again speaking from experience and I do understand water can = disaster, you have to be real careful.. maybe I just got lucky.

 

Was your car from a freshwater flood or salt water like the ones the N.O. area experienced? I'd think it makes a big difference in the eventual damage that you'll see due to corrosion.

+1 about the height the water reached and the time it was subjected to it...

I hope that you are very lucky, some people are, and some cars hold up much better than others! I've just seen very many become electrical burdens, but I am thrilled to know that your's is doing fine! Good luck and glad to hear!

I just bought a Flood title Nissan 350z last week from Mississippi and let me tell you the car is wonderful. I feel that the state was just handing the titles out to people in the area for the simple fact that there were so many of them out there. The person that had the car got out of the payments and sold it for a couple thousand on top of that. The car is an 04 Roadster with everything except Nav. No rust, no smell, and it runs great! So like they said take it case my case because you may get lucky like I did! Happy Hunting!

Imports Unlimited in Conneticut has a bunch of water damaged cars. Last i know they had a blue touring z for like $18k. he said water only got up to the floor and it needed new floor mats. You can find him on Autotrader.com!

 

ewww flood damaged Z?? When i was a buyer for Carmax 5 yrs ago if a flood damaged car came thru the appraisal lane, the value of the car lessened by so much it was unbelieveable. No way, not even for a fixer upper.

 

It was in a fresh water flood.

 

Different strokes for different folks i guess. I dont think i would buy one, but that doesnt mean it didnt tempt me or anything. You can definitly get some pretty good deals on them, and if u can have proof as to how entensive the damage actually was, then why not i guess!

 

You can check on www.ridesafely.com they post all types of damaged cars from all around the country on there. You need an account to check the current bid price but the account is free to sign up for. I have no experience with actually bidding through them but they do usually have anywhere from three to seven 350Zs on there at any given time. There are currently 11 Zs listed but none appear to be flood damaged. Good luck.
