i think thats what theyre called, tech service bulletins or whatver. kinda like recalls but not as serious. anyway i was just wondering if they are only good til warranty runs out or some other time period or....
There lots of confusion as to what a service bulletin is and what it is not. A service bulletin is a supplement to the maintenance manual giving the technician detailed instructions how to fix something.
If you have a mechanical problem, that problem may or may not be a warranty fix.

Actual TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) are only done n/c while the car is under warranty. Campaigns, on the other hand, are good regardless of the car's age. Many Nissan service depts. will run the VIN through the computer each time a car comes in to the shop to check to see if any "Campaigns" need to be performed. For the most part, customers will receive a letter from Nissan on any "Campaigns" as well (ex: Murano alternator, full-size truck brakes, etc.). As davidv pointed out, TSB's are merely bulletins that tell a tech how to fix a specific problem that has arisen and has been pointed out by Nissan.
Heres an example: where I work my people work on local law enforcment units [crown vics.] a TSB became a recall for cracking intake manifolds, this TSB/recall extends to 6 years from date of purchase/unlimited miles. These usually extend past the fac. warranty in many cases.
I think it depends on the company. When I had my Prelude, people with Honda's were able to have TSB issues covered out of warranty. Nissan, on the other hand, probably wouldn't.
