G35c vs Z exhaust

cuz you can't drive... lolz
i actually think it is because being you have a MT and maybe she has an AT and therefore how you drive makes a difference in the exhaust note.
secondly, if you are judging the sound from the inside than you have to account that the Z has less sound dampening so we get much more engine/tranny noise than the G's do. but otherwise from the outside, it is hard to tell the difference between the Z and the G

I think I noticed that too with all the G's around here.. It doesn't even sound like they're flooring it, but when they accelerate you can definitely hear the exhaust tone loud, clear, and aggressive. Comparing to my roommate's G35 coupe, his tone sounds a little deeper than mine also. What sucks is when I'm inside my Z I can't even hear my exhaust unless i'm at 3-4,000 and only then. I wish I could hear it more often, but I guess it's all of the sound dampening they added for the 06's. Hearing other Z's drive by though I can usually hear the exhaust, I just hope that mine sounds the same

I've heard both of them on the street numerous times and I don't really notice any difference. I'm talking about standing on the side of the street when one goes by, either at speed or accelerating from a stop. If you'll listen carefully, you'll also notice that the Murano/FX have the same sound too.

the G35C definately sounds louder with a deeper tone than the Z...
feels awkward because the Z as a sports coupe should sound the way the G35C does ... like a japanese muscle car type of thing...

Anyhow, we've had this discussion before.
A few speculated that the G has a longer wheel base than the Z so it's piping allows it to give off a more pronounced howl.
Others account for the less HP and more weight of the pre-06 G's and Z's. More weight equals more work?
The G had less intake flow (minus Z-tube) and more restriction, so it produced more back-pressure to the exhaust pipes.
All combination of all of these might cause the anomaly.
Just guesses though..take it or leave it.
