Default Weight Reduction

Okay,

Since we have a couple of hours to kill, I want to tell you what I removed from my car to "lighten" it up a little.

Sterio and speakers
Back seats
Seat Belts
Passenger seat (38lbs)
spare wheel & jack
Trunk liner
Most interior panels (more to go)
Carpets
38lbs of sound proofing material (used Dry Ice)
Rear wiper and motor (2.5lbs)
Windshield washer bottle (5lbs+)
tie-downs (7lbs)
front bumper (20lbs)
A/C compressor (40lbs)
Heating vents and ducts

Total weight reduction = 320lbs

Still to go:
Front lights (4lbs)
Horn
Fuel Tank switch to Fuel Cell (20lbs hoping)
Door Glass and gut doors (20lbs x 2)
Heater coil (5lbs)
airbag
center console (5lbs)
undercoating (10lbs)
Accessories Wiring Harness (8lbs)

Another 100lbs

So there you have it! A Z weighing in at 2800lbs.
Add roll cage (100lbs) and you have a screamer.

Oh, and I forgot to mention this:

[Edit: Exsilio, I'm afraid the cup holders are going to have to go too. ]

How about side windows and steel back hatch (less drag?)? Then you could go old style!

There must be a way to cut out that damn HUGE rear strut brace and do something else to increase the rigidity. That thing must be heavy.

Use remote control - you can eliminate the driver - at least 150 lbs.
