Whistling noise
Hey guys I had a question. I noticed when I'm driving around 80 or so ... when I step on the gas I hear this whistling noise. I let go off the gas and it goes away. Is this normal? Just finished breaking in the car so I just noticed it now.

I noticed this too at highway speeds when I mash the pedal, but noticed it more as I climb revs to about 4000 rpm in city driving. When I took the car to the dyno and did a few pulls, I found it was the stock air intake system and I would assume it is the sound of air being pulled in by it. So to answer your question: Yes. It's normal.
When I replaced my OEM paper air filter with a K&N panel filter, the sound was MUCH more pronounced. Instead of hearing that whistling sound at 4000rpm+, I hear it at lower revs, like at 2200 now... I like it.
My girlfriend liked it too... so I bought and installed a K&N on her G35 and she loves that whistling sound now. FWIW, it may be me, but there was a notable difference (on the butt dyno) in her G35 much more so than on the Z. The Z sounds different, but feels the same.
