The VQ on my Pathfinder doesn't have this problem. I do not think the VQ used in any other application has the problem either. Is it the placement of the MAF?

me too. I mean for something you should check every week and maybe 300-400 times is it's lifetime; this is a really bad design!

you really check it that often??? i check it like once every month or so and usually just for fun...hah
It's something you should check at every other fill up at least. That's how my sister burned up her motor. The oil changer she was using didn't put the oil filter on good and a month later.... boom.
I try to check my oil at least every other week. I do check it every Saturday morning along with all the cars as long as I do not forget. Heck, I'm in the garage every day so it's not that hard to do while I'm admiring my baby. That's my duty. If I run out of gas it won't hurt the car. However, if I run out of oil it's going to cost me a lot to fix it cause NISSAN won't cover oil starved engine damage unless it's the oil pump that broke. It's kinda like feeding the dog, it's not that hard to do you just have to do it.
BTW - I put a car cover on my cars every night as well so checking the oil is nothing.

You have to touch your dipstick at least once a month or the pressure will build up. I can't believe you haven't touched it yet. The next time you're home alone go in the garage and yank that dipstick out!!!! what are you afraid of ?

When placing the dipstick back into the hole, make sure you do so in a 24 degree angle. Make sure the hole is rid of any obscure obstacles that might be in its way. Place the dipstick in the hole carefully, if too quick, it could spurt. Make sure you get the right angle, and avoid the dipstick from getting stuck.
