Default 2004 Base Z questions

i am currently in the market for a 350z and a local ford dealership just got a 2004 base in on trade. it has the nismo exhaust and intake, the LM wheels, seatbelt pads, floor mats, and the a nismo shifter all fitted. my question is this: how much am i realistically missing out on by not holding off and waiting for a higher trim level car. this car will be a commuter, and might occasionally be auto-x'ed but that is really it. we do get some light snow for a little bit if that makes any difference. also, the stealership wants $24,000 for the car (it had only 6000 miles on it). kbb trade in rates it at like $17,000 i think, but that doesnt account for all the nismo goodies. what do you guys think i should offer the dealership if i decide to go ahead and try to buy it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,
james

has no form of traction control, no lsd unless aftermarket and no hid's. As for price that isn't bad if the mods are true and not just them saying so. I would try and get it close to the 17k, but i bet they traded for more than that. I would think that 20-21 would be a good price. But try for like 18-19k.

Just read the posts that read something like this:

Hi. I am a new Base owner. How much does it cost to install HID?
Hi. I am a new Base owner. I don’t have LSD. My dealer says that he can install one for $1,100. Is it worth it?
Hi. I am a new Base owner. I need cruise control. Can I just buy a steering wheel with the button a button it in?

the only thing a base needs is the lsd... other than that its a great way to get a performance car for under 28000 new

Youll be better off getting a base, slap an aftermarket lsd in there and you're ahead of the game.

Based on what you described (04 base w/6k) current wholesale price is about $22100. (auction pricing)
Add or subtract anything you want for the additional things you mentioned.

Man, go to the Nissan site to learn model differences. And $24,000 for a used Base is just too much; even if it a jet engine bolted to it!

+1

Plus, the NISMO LSD is better than the stock VLSD anyways.

I have a 2004 base, it's my daily driver, & I love it. It doesn't have the traction control, LSD, HID's, or cruise control but I could care less. I live in VA and we get snow from time to time, I put on a set of Blizzak's for the winter and I'm good to go. Like other's have said, you can add some of these items aftermarket if you want but the base is a great car and if you can get a good deal, I say go for it.

Only women need TC. Get a base and save the weight and the money. Take a look at race cars and tell me wich ones have TC. Electronic nannies.

Its funny when you trade a modified Z in, they give you nothing, but when they try and sell a modified Z, they glorify and add on all the aftermarket goodies to the price. Offer them what a standard Base model goes for on KBB and nothing more!

kbb says they paid 17.2K for it. the dealership is asking 24,999, which is like 500 more than kbb says retail should be. considering it has the nismo goodies, (wheels/tires,intake exhaust, shifter, mats and belt pads) what do you think would be a fair price to pay. i just dont know what all the extra nismo stuff is worth now that it is no longer new. i was thinking that about $20k would be fair. what do you all think. any replies would be greatly appreciated.

"also, how much does an lsd cost to install?"

Once you start asking this type of question, the answer is: get an Enthusiast.

car max prices are pretty close to retail KBB and they are non-negotiable....
but they get buyers left and right, go figure.

IMO....stay away from pre-own vehicles...a brand new car is worth every penny, knowing that the car has hardly any mileage on the odometer...peace of mind.

enthusiast is usually around $1k to $2k more then the base, comes with

1. LSD
2. TCS
3. HID
4. Homelink
5. Aluminum Foot Pedals.

Enthusiast is worth the extra 1 to 2k easy. Its so funny, I see people everyday with Base models looking to upgrade to HID and LSD, should have just bought the Enthusiast to begin with.

thanks for the responses. but getting back to my original question, what do you think is a fair price to pay the dealer for this particular car?
