Default Frustration and Must Have.....

Hi all. I posted in the "new members" to say hi but saying hi to everyone that didn't see that post.

I'm purchasing this week and I've been researching for several months and have finally narrowed it down to an 05 or an 06 touring. I think it is going to be 05 due to the price difference but my absolute must haves are all met with the exception of the audio steering wheel controls. BUT, in my research on the board, I can get that added without any problems - and no, I'm not even going to attempt to get that project started because I'll be out of a car for several months.

I was told on two occasions at two different dealers today that the 05 touring does have the steering audio controls. Then he proceeded to tell me they are on the right of the steering wheel......I'm just so frustrated with dealers and their lack of knowledge when it comes to details. I'd rather hear "I don't know" then flat out made up ****.

Long story to get to the questions.....When purchasing your 350, what were a couple of "must haves" on your list and why?? And did they change after you purchased - what was once a must have is now something you don't care about? Or vice versa, something you didn't care about you now wish you would have had on your "must have" list?

Sorry for the long post. If I'm not posting in the right place, please move and let me know. Hopefully I'll get my Z within the next few days. I still have a couple of more decisions to make and am looking forward to the responses.

Must haves were 6 speed, leather, brembo's. So that pretty much put me in a GT or nothing.

I was in the same shoes, but a must not have was the Bose. Had it in my '03 Maxima and it just isn't worth it. I went Track so I wouldn't feel so bad about throwing the oem stereo away and will do the leather from leatherseats.com. Only thing I lose out on this way is power seat controls.

My must haves were the frost leather, drop top, 6-speed. Wish I had navigation but that is water under the bridge. Have the white/frost roadster and it is stunning!

The only must haves were leather, 6MT, and a drop top

The go for the '06, with a little shopping around you should be able to get it below invoice.

I wouldn't have it any other way!

ETA: If anyone is willing to look at a used 2006 that I'm considering, please PM me and I'll send you a link. I can use all the advice I can get and would appreciate some input as to why I should or shouldn't consider this option. I've done all the research but there is nothing like someone who knows what they are looking for to lend a hand. Thank you!

If I were you, I would get the 06 unless there's a big price difference from an 05.

If I was buying a new one today, I would get the 06.

If someone offered to trade me an 06 for my 04 with its current setup, I would turn them down.

Requirements:
Pikes Peak White
6MT
Cruse Control
HID
Side curtain air bags

Things I never use:
Seatback organizer

Wish I had:
Brembo (but will most likely upgrade later anyway)

I was debating getting an 2005 vs 2006. This is a list of "must haves" and a list of not must haves but "great to have"!

Must haves (no particular order):
1. Cloth Seats- I don't care about leather and I personally don't want to maintain them.
2. Non-automatic seats- Don't want extra weight or motors going out eventually. That is extra $ I don't want to spend to fix.
3. HID- so bright and colorful!
4. 6 speed - shift_fun
5. TCS - safety
6. Hardtop

Great to have (no particular order):
1. LSD- no idea really how this works but I know enough that it is good to have for a RWD car especially if its a manual.
2. 18" rims - they are so huge and sexy
3. Projectors - I love that cut off and intensity/focus of the light
4. I'd post more...but I got to take a mad **** and go eat a late dinner.

My must haves:
Convertible, HIDs, Heated seats, Hard tonneau cover, Glass rear window, and enough power and handling ability to get on the highway without worrying about getting killed, but enough reserve to enjoy on the weekend. After driving 45 different makes and models of cars, I found the one I wanted.

When I bought must haves:

6MT
SS
Aero Pkg
Sills
Splash guards
NISMO LSD

If I was to buy a '06 must haves:
6MT
Sills
NISMO LSD
Colgan Bra or Clear Bra from day one. A MUST HAVE !!!!!
Helmet j/k

You ask why not the Aero pkg, SS, and splash guards.
We'll I ended up installing a G35 spoiler on mine. The stock Z spoiler just doesn't look right to me.

The splash guards weren't really needed to stop splashes. I didn't see that a whole lot gets splashed on the car without them. However, I did notice that they collect mud dirt and water underneath on the body face that would evenually cause rust through or damage IMO. So, not an item i would buy again. I also think it look better without them now.

As for dropping the SS requirement - The Z looks sexy in every color except I/F. So, if I could get all else color wouldn't a deal breaker anymore. However, the Le Mans Sunset is really nice !!!!!
