i've read that over time, the ecu and other sensors in the car will counteract w/ our NA mods, making our cars feel slower and more sluggish. thats why we get the utec and tune. is this true? and how long until this begins to happen? what type of mods affect the sensors in the car to do this?

just asking cuz im planning on getting the utec but don't have the $$$ for it right now.

You'll be fine w/o the UTEC. I don't feel my car being any slower and you can see from the dyno I gained power. However the UTEC will help free up more power by adjusting timing and a/f.

Well it looks like I'll be ordering the UTEC when I get back. Also considering an exhaust. I'm also now leaning towards staying N/A.

I know the N/A mods are getting knocked around for not being boosted and all, but if you guys are looking for some pretty big gains N/A you could always save up that 8 or so grand and look into the 4.3 liter stroker kit at say 11.5 compression. Nothing helps hp/tq like more displacement . Pricey and all but its always an extreme option, it may not be 500whp or so, but it would be a very powerful all motor track option and very tuneable. Grats on the numbers I dyno'd at 233whp223wtq base, so I just may emulate some of your mods .

That is a bit extreme. LOL Also thanks and a lot of people have "copied" my same mods.

TurboXS www.TurboXS.com I highly recommend it over the E-mange. You can do much more with the UTEC.

Since this post is on the N/A mods, what would be the better performance option, a spacer or a new intake manifold? I used to own a 3g eclipse and the large aftermarket with tons of choices for the Z is giving me some trouble now, since the 3g had very little

I recommend the 5/16th spacer w/ ISO gasket. This spacer allows you to retain the oem strut bar and is kinda a cheat mod as many can't tell you have it.

Quick qusetion about UTEC. Are you tuning it yourself? What do you need to tune it? I'm considering getting one but nobody around knows how to. Thanks for the help.

You'll need a laptop. Also might want to get the UTEC Remote Map Selector Switch. For more info read: http://www.turboxs.com/more_info.php?ID=217 There is a lot of info there. Tuning can be done by yourself but you'll want someone who is knowledgeable in tuning with the UTEC to teach you. I will be going to Mac Autosport in Parker, CO for my Dyno tuning. Here is a list of TurboXS dealers: http://www.turboxs.com/dealers.htm

Yes. The +17whp & 10wwtq is untuned. My tuner feel that we could be around 260-270whp and 245-260wtq tuned with the UTEC.
Also these are corrected numbers on a DynoJet dyno useing a 1.21 SAE correction factor.

Just a little update. Should be ordering the UTEC around this time next month and get tune in Oct. Still considering ordering the AMuse R1 exhaust as well. Last time I drove the car it was running well and screaming for a tune for those extra hp. LOL Keep watching this thread for more info.

UPDATE: First took the Z to Bandimere Raceway: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/220000-took-the-350z-to-bandimere-vids.html

Also I'm ordering the UTEC today!!! !!! Also getting the TurboXS Tuner wideband w/ Bosch sensor and the Map switch. I also found another UTEC tuner local in Colorado Springs. He has a load bearing dyno so the number won't read as high but its like road tuning on a dyno. I plan on running a baseline pull, Curious to see what the UTEC's base map does, than we're going to town. We're going to start with two 91octane maps, Performance 91 Map and Daily drive map. Than once I save up some more money will run some race fuel. I'm excite but the wallet and wife isn't. LOL Oh well I'll keep everyone updated.
