Lol !!! All gears. I shift as fast as I can after I hit 6300rpm.

If I'm just quick driving. I'll shift around 5500rpm so that I can take it a little easier on the shifts and not abuse the motor.

i didnt think you were abusing the motor unless you exceed redline??
the manual says " exceeding redline will cause engine damage..?

Below red line, you're not abusing it.

Actually, an engine driven 90% of the time at low RPM will hurt a LOT when you rev it to 7000rpm.

With the superior piston speed, the rods will lenghten a tiny bit. The piston rings will hit a small ridge (created naturally by wear) when they go farter up.

Not ideal.

Don't lug it, rev it !

Might be a stupid question but in "normal" driving, is there a right window of rpm's to shift? Still babying my new Z, and can't wait to fully open it up, but not used to a car with this much power so not sure what is truly considered low or high rpm. Thanks for tolerating this over-simple question

just feeling the power over about 3500 rpm's is awesome . I love the Z. She puts a smile on my face everyday to work on the highway. I never knew of a 6th gear that pulled so hard

No. Shift whenever you comfortable. For normal street driving there is little point (and its a bit excessive) to take any gear red line.

Exactly.

I shift between 3-4000 rpm in "regular" driving.

Don't why so many people are concerned with breaking it in then. Makes sense not to race anyone the first week you have the car.
