Default Why do dealers refuse to acknowledge that many 2003 models have tranny replacements?

its just not right. Maybe they really want to sell the car. I was with the dealer 2 days ago looking at a 2003 6mt and asked him if the tranny was ever replaced. His exact response was "ofcourse not...I have never heard of these trannies going out....they are built to last"...funny thing is, my friend bought his 2003 Z 6mt from there brand new and the tranny went out at 10k. He got the replacement done from there too.

I brought that up but the salesman said he didnt hear anything . o well

Crap, but of course why would they, it's their job. I had problems with my tranny too and they didn't want to replace it. Instead they cleaned the axel or driveshaft and that helped out alot.

Why would a salesperson talk about the 2003 350Z when they are selling the 2006?

Did you miss the part when he first said he was at the dealer looking at a 2003.

I tend not do deal with salespeople out front, I always go in and talk to the sales manager directly, most of the time they will give you the bottom price there willing to sale the car at without playing games.

Otherwise its the sit in the cubicle while the salesperson runs back and forth from the sales manager office pretending to try and talk the sales manager down in price... but what is really happening is the sales person is in there saying "hey I think this guy is a sucker and we can take him for lots of $$$"

haha yea...the best part is when I make them look stupid because I have been doing my research on the Z (forums and other places) and I know quite a bit about what each trim offers, specs. etc etc. Online it didnt say what trim the car was, so I assumed it was base, and so I went there thinking I was going to look at a base. When I got there he didnt budge from the price so I said its a base model and the price is too high. He said it was an "enthusiastic" trim. I laughed and asked "you mean enthusiast?". But it clearly was not...no HIDS. I told him and he felt stupid.
