for 2000 you can do a nice na setup, i/e testpipes, pulley, plenum, tuning. this should net you ~20whp over stock.

+1, I know its a compromise, but if you want to have something thats already turbo, go for a EVO/STI, you'll spend much less money and have something very fast especially in the case of the EVO.

That is why drag cars that are usually TT like RX7's etc do a single turbo swap so they can spool one huge turbo instead of two smaller.

To answer the question, I'd put the 8K down on an M3 or used 911.
Most of the time its down to placement. The 350z with a tt kit has the turbos at either side of the engine where as my RX7 ans the 2 turbos next to each other so you quickly run out of space with bigger turbos so you can only fit a single in the place. its the same with the RB26 and the supra JZ engines.

There are loads of for and against factors for both single and twin set ups.

Default Objective..

Thanks for all the advice so far. The option to get another car, isnt even an option. I want a Z, and have for a few years now. Like I said in my earlier posts, this will be a weekend car, maybe for shows and such,or as a project car to build up. I already have a built in car model I mostly want a car with good show, and good go. I want it to be an all around performer, that stands out a bit from other Z's. If I wanted strictly a racer, Id think of another car, but other cars arent Z's, so thats a no-go.

If I could break into the 12's with a single turbo, thats probably all I'd want on the speed thing. Just something to set my Z apart in that aspect. I have a fairly good idea of what I'll do looks-wise, but performance is where Im somewhat baffled. With my Cavy, there were/are only so many parts available for upgrading and making it quicker. With the Z theres so many, its harder to decide with so many choices. So, heres what Im thinking, gleaned from all of your responses (and from reading a few other threads):

FI first, single turbo, make sure I have plenty of money for really good tuning, which in turn would likely keep my maintenance down a bit. This would probably be the only thing I could get right away, rest I'd have to save up for another month or two.

Exhaust work..which probably could/should be done at the same time or not long after I get the turbo.

Coilovers/suspension upgrades, to include new rims and tires.

Then exterior work, tinting, body kit, corners, custom paint..etc.

One more question for you guys/girls, to this end that I just mentioned, would any these things be able to come from the dealer as addons, so that I could avoid the labor? Or would you recommend any of these things as such for warranty reasons? Most of the nismo stuff looks as though its all N/A geared.

If the 07's offer something really good for the money, I might consider it, but right now the 06's are what I have my sights set on. Live in the present ya know.

Thanks everyone.

LOL one thing I forgot to mention, my wife (the boss) said we cant get an EVO/Euro/STI.. she wants a Z as much as I do. We looked into those since they were a bit more out of the package in some areas than the Z. But ultimately, we chose the car we originally wanted the most. Now that shes excited about building it up some, its all go for the aftermarket.
