Oki.. so im pretty much sold on going with the next step up from the base. The enthusiast comes with the lsd which would probably help with launches and such. Which is good.

Ive read the other post about peoples first mods, what I want to know is, what performance parts would you get if you had:

$500
$1000
$5000
$8000 (just for giggles)

I'll be getting the Z after I come home from afghani****, which looks like around ****** or *********. This is a good thing since the 06's will probably be marked to move. Im hoping I'll save some money, with that money and possibly my next months paycheck, I was thinking of putting in something performance wise. So what would all you more knowledgeable more experienced Z owners put in if you suddenly found that much money in your coat pocket?

FI? Crap load of bolt ons? Gimme some ideas... =)

$500.00 (Save the Money)
$1000.00 (Save the money)
$5000.00 (buy a TT kit) and save for install and tune
$8000.00 (you almost have enough for a TT set-up with install and a good tune.)

$1000-2000; either a quaife or nismo LSD or some type of coilover setup. Maybe an exhaust

For "off road" use no question that bypassing the cats is the way to go, but I remain too green to run test pipes on the street. Cat back exhaust make a great sound and look good and add some HP. Intakes are popular but add problems such as hiding the air filter in the fender well or potentially stalling the motor at speed.

Suspension is definitely a way to go with say anti-sway bars. I would think twice about suspension mods that lower the Z unless you like to buy body parts. Thats just my personal experience.

When you wear out the tires I would look to a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 G3-D3s as a definite performance mod, especially in the rain.

For reliable smog legal power, my car is in the shop with a new Stillen hood and waiting for a stage II Stillen SC install!

No, hes very right. Out where Im at right now is a little lax cuz we're way removed from the threat zone, but there is still a threat. I was out much closer to the danger zone and we were extremely tight with OPSEC. Thanks for the reminder bro, you are completely right.

OEF is certainly gonna pay for my Z. (Assuming I make it home.)

Some time I'll have to tell you the story of when my plane full of Americans landed in Pakistan on the fourth of july. Talk about a nervous bunch of people we were.

Anyway, I guess a single turbo isnt recommended?

Not recomended my @ss. People buy TT's so they can tell people they have TT's. Save some money and get a Turbonetics single turbo. I run with Vipers. Nuf said !!!

single turbo is a great alternative to the TT's. the difference will be in ultimate power. there isnt a whole lot of difference in spool. Tnetics kit is also cheaper than the greddy TT. so long as you dont want to go really hardcore into power (500whp+) the single is very good. if you want to go big power (600whp+) twins would likely be better for an out of the box kit.

but you can always upgrade the single to a bigger one. good luck overseas.

Not true. It's easier to spool a single larger turbo for high boost/power than to spool two smaller turbos. It's also cheaper.

That is why drag cars that are usually TT like RX7's etc do a single turbo swap so they can spool one huge turbo instead of two smaller.

To answer the question, I'd put the 8K down on an M3 or used 911.

Actually, the big dog track cars have two huge turbos. Converting the twin to single setup is for street racers. The track guys have two of those huge turbos.

i said "out of the box kit" the tnetics kit is not capable of those numbers "out of the box". if he want more power than that he would have to upgrade the tnetics. sharif got what? 650whp on the greddy 18g's? therefore its capable of 600+whp "out of the box".

i would not recommend doing a turbocharger to your car unless its paid off. also if you do go turbo, be sure you can afford to repair/replace the engine if it goes. if you cant afford the repairs which can happen dont get one.

for 2000 you can do a nice na setup, i/e testpipes, pulley, plenum, tuning. this should net you ~20whp over stock.

I think you may want to wait and see what the 07 has to offer. It might be worth the wait and money for it.

Get a nice set of rims/suspension set-up keep your cars warranty and if you want a road warrior use the rest to buy/down payment on a Supra TT. Hehe at least thats what i plan on doing. I just think the power gains are not worth the money on this car thats why i want a nice smooth cruising ride with the Z and I will have the Supra to make babies cry
