This is common for pop charger.. Just start your engine again. It's harder to break and steer because you lost power.

thanks for all the replies. so tonight i tested my car again w/the popcharger on, and went about 80-100 on a straight w/ hardly any cars on the freeway so it was somewhat safe. i even tried putting the car in neutral at 90mph and nothing happened?!?! i dunno what to do but i'm still gonna put on the stock airbox and take it to nissan and hopefully have something done to remedy this freakin' problem. and no i didn't buy any new tires...as for the ses/geenie bottle light/battery light, they were all on at the gas/engine temp dial and not the rpm which i first stated. does anyone know if this happens w/ the nismo intake??? i think i might consider replacing my popcharger after reading other threads where it caused Z's to stall at high speeds or whatnot.

I have experienced this in my stock '03 Maxima. (yup, another VQ)

I'm wondering if you guys are absolutely certain this is pop charger related, or is it a combo of mods that leads to this, or is it just certain years/revisions of the Z w/pop charger? I ask because my wife will drive my Z from time to time so I have been trying to duplicate this so I can tell her how to avoid or handle the situation. The thing is, from 75mph to 55mph whenever I drop into neutral, rpm's go to 750 and hold solid for me. Maybe once I throw MREV+ in? Maybe never?

I don't know about it being a broader issue. However, everyone who's had this issue in a Z has had a popcharger AND dropped to car into neutral at high speeds. That pattern holds. This isn't happening to stock Z's.

The Maxima doesn't have a popcharger does it?

i use only a drop in K&N direct replacement filter. i drilled a dozen 1/2" holes against the fender side of the box to lesson the intake restriction of the air box. i like it...it works great cuz it doesn't whistle at idle like some aftermarket intake systems.

I don't know any intakes that whistle at idle. It's a WOT that they make the sucking noise.

i brought this up to a friend and he told me to clean my filter because it is restricting the airflow and somehow it can cause the engine to turn off. well i cleaned my popcharger filter w/ k&n, looks good and new. it was so dirty being that i drove about 7000 miles w/o ever cleaning it. hope this is the answer and i will be cleaning my filter more often now.

No, stock maxima. Can't say it's been a huge recurring problem with the maxima, but then I'm rarely in neutral for any length of time while the car is moving.
