Question No automatic

How many of you would still have purchased the Z if it came in only 6spd and not automatic?

I have a base so I wanted a 6spd.

so your asking the auto guys if they'd still have bought their Z's if MT was the only option right? as an MT guy, I can say I wouldn't have bought the Z if auto was the only option.

I wish I could have 2 polls in one thread saying if it came in only auto or if it came in only 6spd.

I woouldnt have bought it if it only came as an auto. Ever since i drove my first car an it was stick I only want manual cars. I think if it came in only 6 speed manual there might be less of em out there.

Honestly, I think Nissan did the right thing by offering a 5AT, their sales are exponentially larger because of that. The vast majority of Z's in my area are 5AT. Most of which are either roadsters(I've yet to see a 6mt roadster in my area), or driven by older people...or both! People will argue that a true sports car is only available in MT but Nissan was thinking more about sales than the cars image obviously.

They did do a good job by offering a 5AT. There are lots of people who like the performance but have a crappy drive to work in traffic or have a wife/girlfriend that can't drive a 6MT but still wants to drive the car since she helps pay for it.

i think the reason that the S2000 is so pure in terms of designed by and for enthusiasts is because it doesnt come in automatics, terrible for everyday use, and many other practical reasons...

if the Z was the same way, it would sipher out alot of the auto-wusses...

wouldn't have bought a Z if AUTO was the only option...MT is the ONLY option for a real sportscar

Wait a second. This has got to be one of the top-10 dumbest polls ever. Manual drivers will answer yes and automatic drivers will answer no. Isn't that obvious.

Fill me in. Am I missing something here?

the only reason i bought a auto was my drive to work i drive about a good 30 to 45 mins to work in bumper to bumper traffic and home. I would love to have a 6 speed but i had to compromise and i voted yes

After replacing three clutches and three throwout bearings in my Thunderbird Super Coupe over the years, I'm happy to have all that crap behind me. My only regret is that the Auto was not a six speed.

Although I do not care for the poll, I did find something interesting about the manual vs automatic 350Z. CarMax in Baltimore, MD stocks 15 2006 350Z. And of those 11 are automatic and only 4 are manual. Is the manual 350Z a thing of the past? Is Nissan pushing the automatic?

Have owned 3 Z's
1.1983 280zx Turbo 5spd - Highly Modified
2.2004 Roadster 6spd - Stock
3. 2005 35th Anniv. 5AT - Stock

Liked them all for different reasons. If I was going to mod the car or track it I would have gone 6MT only. Feel like I have more control over the car with a stick. Just at a differnt place with my goals at this point.

It makes sense for Nissan to produce bot AT and MT, from a sales perspective. Personally, I feel that a sports car should have a MT, otherwise it defeats the purpose IMHO.

I said no, but I have to say if there was more legroom (6' 5" here) I would have bought the manual, but as it is right now with my legs & the seat as far back as it will go, tilted as much as possible & the steering wheel tilted as high as it will go, my knee would hit the steering wheel when I was working the clutch......

It always bothers me to hear all your 6MT guys talking smack about the automatic when for some of us there really is NO choice but to get the auto.
