i was in a car that ran over a skunk, i can tell you that tomato juice doesn't work, but there is a new chemical that works like magic, you can likely call animal control or a vet to find out the name, i will search for it

I hit a skunk and it got stuck by the tail in the Y Pipe!!! That suckkkkked. I had to drive 10 miles home, actually i drove out on a backroad not near my house, knock it off with a frickin' broom, and drove it away. I hosed off the bottom of the car and just parked it on grass for a few days (as opposed to the garage). Supposedly grass will naturally absorb the odor. It was better in about 3 days.

Welcome to the club buddy.

It took me over a month to get my G, to not smell like skunk!
Baking Soda, layed out on newspapers all over the inside of my ride eventually fixed it.
I tried EVERYTHING! From a tomato bath, to tomato paste, etc, etc...
Read for yourself!

If you feel like dropping some loot, go to a good detailer. They have chemicals they can spray in the vent systems to flush the car out.

Been there, done that.
My detailer couldnt do much, an oderiser (sp) in the vents, and a good scrub down, still didnt help much.
The smell is on the inside and outside right?

when my dad ran one over, the only thing that made the smell fade was time.

i still have not been out to smell the car again yet. i saw something in the road and couldn't swerve in time and ran over it with both right side tires! hard to tell if the smell was mostly from outside, but luckily i was only a mile from home and hit the car with the hose right when i pulled up. got the wheel wells, all underneath, and it smelled like burning skunk so i'm sure some of his goo hit the exhaust.

Yeah, after the fact its pretty funny, however, it wasent back then!
Wash her down completely and get under the car and start scrubbing....
Hopefully, the little bugger stayed on the outside, and did not get inside!

That's gotta be the funniest thing I've heard in a while LOL. Geez I didn't know skunks can stain your car THAT bad.

well looks like i got off semi ok. car didn't smell much till i poked my head under it, then i caught a little wiff. luckily it was wet out last night and i hit it close enough to home i think i was able to wash most of it off with the hose.. i did get a smell of it when i opened the car, but not bad once i opened the doors for a couple minutes. i conditioned the seats and hopefully it will over power the smell. sucks though. i am taking a trip to sacramento on tues.

well my previous assesment was wrong!!! my car has been stinking up the neighborhood for over 2 days now. the smell had found its way inside also. i would not dare put it in the garage. i have pressure washed and other things, then finally today after work got a bunch of peroxide and baking soda, mixed it in a garden sprayer and went to town. seemed to do the trick pretty darn good. not sure if my nose was just used to it, but the smell is pretty much gone now. got baking soda layed out on plastic in the interior and it is coming along nicely.

if anyone hits one of these dam smelly animals, hit your recirculate button on the heater as fast as you can!!! the outside is ok, it sucks when the heater sucks it up, ewww.

Just dont park her in your garage, or your WHOLE hose will smell like it! (Trust me).
Now leave the baking soda out on your floor mats at night, and that should slowly take care of that smell.
I've felt your pain.

do a rain dance and pray for that rain. Driving in the rain will accelerate in getting rid of that odor.
