What gear is the best for a dyno run? I have an 05 Z and i did a run in 4th and got 234hp and 223trq and in 5th i got 233hp and 227trq.

 

Try reverse...It's a hidden secret

 

5th gear because it's a 1:1 ratio

 

I did it in reverse but got some bad numbers, so hidden secrect my @$$.

When you dyno in 5th or 6th you get too much heat soak. I would suggest 3rd or 4th.

 

Heat soak isnt a problem unless your boosted and have an inneficient intercooler, bad advice man. 5th is the 1:1 and the correct gear for a 6MT Z. Generally most Z's dyno higher in 5th than 4th, because it takes longer to dyno, more air gets into the cylinders, thus making slightly more power than in a lower gear)4th) where the dyno goes by quicker. 3rd gear for a 6mt dyno is just ghey

 

I'm just going by my dyno place and what he suggested.

 

I tried first gear the other day. RPMS go up really quick and dyno only takes couple seconds.

 

your numbers look fine if you are stock. it doesnt really matter what gear you use, the variation is small between 4th and 5th.
