PDI is the correct term, but I can't remember what it stands for. It basically entails a last inspection, cleaning, removing the protective film from all over it, short test drive to ensure it's safe...crap like that. They aren't messing around with you. Most service departments aren't open on the weekend...just sales guys. So it probably wasn't PDI'd until today.

PDI = Point of Delivery Inspection.

If I were you, I'd tell my dealer that I'd like to be there for the PDI myself. Why?

That way you can inspect the car and make sure they don't add "dealer-installed options" -- EVEN if you didn't ask for them originally. Some less than reputable dealers have been known to do this to inflate their prices.

Regards,

iboost

Good point. Or at least call them and tell them not to install the front license plate bracket. I told my dealer there would be hell to pay if they started drilling my car when it showed up.

I think it comes pre-drilled. I don't know for sure tho...(mine has plate holes in the front, but the dealership didn't have anything on it)

The 350Z comes with dimples in the bumper anyway... just hope you know that...

My Z came in to the dealer on a Saturday at 5 PM. I traveled over there and did all of the paperwork and talked to the guy cleaning it up. They called a tech in that evening to check it for road-worthiness and then let me take it home Sunday at 1 PM after church. I was off Monday for the holidays, so I took it back at 9 AM for them to finish the PDI. They loaned me a car for the hour-and-a-half that it took so I could go eat breakfast. When I came back, it was just about ready. Car arrived Sat. PM, final PDI and delivery was Monday AM.

wildone_106,

One reason I got it so early on Monday morning was that the dealership was actually having an end-of-year sale that weekend! That's the reason that they were able to process the car on Sat. evening, Sunday at lunchtime, and Monday morning.

The PDI doesn't really take all that long to do if you could have someone stay on it, maybe 2 or 2-1/2 hours. The problem is that they may have to do other work also - even other PDI's - and different people would be involved in the PDI (cleanup, engine, tech-setup, test drive, etc.)

I'm sure it'll be ready soon. Have you called them to find out the status?

If I were you I would be there during the whole process. I was. It took mechanic about 30 minutes to do all technical checks, then short drive (I was in the car to make sure it's not overreved), then about two hours for cleaning etc.... I wasn't there during cleaning, but I made sure everybody knows I know milage, so nobody drives car.

Just to be sure, you know...

Plate holes are drilled by the dealers. My dealer did not because I requested it that way. I also told them to not put the car dealer's emblem on my new jewel.I was there for the whole process and they can do it less than four hours.

Yes, I know it has dimples. But no dealer has the right to drill holes in the bumper of someones new car without their approval. It's been done...just do a search on this board. I would ***** slap the dealer if they did that to my Z.

Maybe different manufacturers call it different things, but Audi calls it Perfect Delivery Inspection.

-they could have at least called me as soon as they found out, rather than keep me in limbo but oh well
