I been reading a lot of this "if the driver bumps into the rev limiter, the transmission won't shift until the driver selects the next gear." How about down shifting....does it auto down shift if you don't? A friend of min has an Audi A6....and he told me apprently his auto shift if the driver forget to do it. I read somewhere there's 1/3 us that ordered the 5sp auto.

 

You mean if you are in third gear and slow to a stop, will it remain in 3rd? Good question. Probably will shift for you. I think the manual shift only works when accelerating. But not sure.

 

I'm sure it will downshift. My Audi S4 was like that. Same for my Jag XK8.
