Default Wrecked today. :(

Yo guys, I was driving down the interstate today, and this 18-wheeler came by doing like 80 or something right. And he blew me or something and all the sudden I started spinning like nuts, next thing I know my car slammed into the concrete baracade in the middle of the interstate. I had a wrecker guy take it to the dealership, and i've gotta wait until Monday before they can look at it. From what I can tell, the left fender and the bottom of the front bumper are messed up. The left wheel is like rubbing against my fender, I hope it's just the fender, and the axel isn't bent or anything. Anyone else have anything like this happen before? Or know anyone that has? I just wanna know if anyone knows the price it could take if it's just the fender. And no i'm not telling my insurance company, I don't want my insurance to sky rocket.

Dude not to burst your bubble or anything, but you are probably looking at some serious damage. I mean my buddy hit the gaurd rail in his 350 at about 45-50 and his car was totaled. You are most likely looking at a crap load of money in repairs, and if I was you, would just turn it into the insurance

I'll just go ahead and raise the BS flag on your story now before someone else does. A semi "blew you into a spin" in a sports car that sits 6 inches off the ground? I think not.

How fast were you going?

Did the truck hit you when it passed by?

Does your car have TCS or VDC, were they on?

Did you slam on the brakes and/or turn the wheel suddenly?

I was doing about 50, I slowed down because I could barely see. I have an 03 base model, so I dunno about TCS or VDC. And no the truck didn't hit me. I hit the breaks once I felt the car going to the left, tried to turn right, and I wound up doing a 360, left fender hitting the wall. I didn't see any parts of the car on the ground or anything like that either.

So how about some "supporting details" about what you were doing when the semi supposedly passed you and blew you into this spin? Were you driving a straight line, changing lanes at the speed of light, etc?

I was in the far left lane, going under an overpass that curved to the left.

Probable story. His tires may not have been the greatest so if an 18wheeler did fly by him at the "speed limit" [70 or 80], which they often do no matter the conditions [see: Houston] then alittle bit of a wind-shake or the extra water being throw into his lane could have caused him to hydroplane and along with hitting the brakes and turning, probably pretty sharp [17 yrs old, just doing what he thought was best] could end up just how we described... but the only one who REALLY knows is him...

Yeah, that definitely sux. Off hand, I'd say 50 MPH in rain hard enough that it's limiting your visibility is pretty crazy, but that is knowledge that comes with experience, and now you know. .

I'm sure your car will be made good again. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Or...... You could just tell the insurance it was a hit run . They'll only raise your points, if they know you were driving and went outta control and hit a wall. That is depending on the hit. Post some pics. *Plus a hit and run won't raise your insurance rates.*

my Z hydroplaned once at 50-55mph on the freeway from merging lanes... It was good no car was around... so the story sounds quite true.. iono about the damage.. but since you are 17, im guessing parents are helping you out a bit? got another car in the family to insure you under? it'll save quite a bit of money a month

That's some really bad advice. The insurance company will send an adjuster out to look at the car. Odds are the adjuster won't be retarded, so I think he could distinguish damage from a concrete wall vs. another vehicle hitting and running. If this kid listens to you his rates won't go up 'cause his insurance will flat out deny the claim and cancel his policy for fraud. Yea, no insurance bill next month!
