My '05 Track with me in it (200lb) plus 3/4 of fuel and no spare (ie Track setup) weight in at 3413lb....

I seriously doubt the car gained 500lb in a year...

Dayum....this thread is OLD. I don't know what mine weighs but i'm hoping in the 3100 range.

I wonder what Rickdogg's car weighs? I bet he is sub-3000lbs.

good way to cut weight.

-remove spare/tools
-10 lb braile battery
-titanium exhaust

that should cover about 100 lbs

The lotus is more like 2000lbs... WAY differnt class as a matter a fact when it comes to weight it is pretty much in a class of it's own. But that takes carbon fiber body parts, no interrior, ect ect....

Power door locks/wondows, steel unibody, leather, BOSE, extensive plastic, sound deadening, lack of alternative materials.

In order for the Z to be price competitive, NISSAN uses tratitional materials through out the shell and support equipment.

It's funny you should ask this, cause the Z06, while dimensionaly a larger car, uses fiberglass for body panels, balsa wood and carbon fiber for the floor pans, aluminum for the majority of the frame structure, and a host of other bits, including some magnesium here and there, thus the 3100lb scale and $70K price tag, not to mention the $12K engine.

I say if NISSAN used Chevy's material list for the Z, we would be driving a $50K-60K Z that weighed 2800lbs or less; taking us from a 11lbs to 1hp ratio to a 9lb to 1 hp ratio. WOW!

Im surprised Nissan didnt try putting it on a diet instead of increasing its hp. Although this may not be a good comparison but in contrast to the 350z the S2000 is more than 500lbs lighter. Although its only a 4cyl its still just as quick as the 350z. What makes the 350z so heavy anyways. I mean its only a sports coupe, not a 4 banger family sedan. Alright my rant is over....

Although it may be a heavy car I still wouldnt buy anything else....
S2000 is a lot smaller then the 350z, that is why its 500 lbs less.... I'm 6'4 and can fit in my 350zr but in the S2000 I can't even get my foot over the clutch, not to mention the top of my head is above the windshield.....

Just curious as to what is considered heavy to you guys. A 300+HP car that weighs less than 3400lbs. Its in a mans category of car unlike the S2000 more boy racerish IMO so you can't compare. The new skyline must be considered a boat to you guys, AWD usually adds at least 300lbs. Add some lightweight racing wheels and a carbon fiber hood, take out your spare with a 1/4 tank of gas and you should be headed into skinny minny territory.

They can get pretty light. The Z's are also a pretty luxurious car to begin with. But if you remove most of the "heavy" items you start to lose half of the things you paid for.

But if you dont mind removing that stuff... my Z's are have gotten pretty light... I will have accurate numbers next month, but my SR Z (hardtop) is around 24-2450lbs. And my Titan Z (roadster) is around 2700lbs.

As long as it's safe, who cares about the small weight difference.

When my cars were last on the scales in december, the SR car was 2655, and the V8 car was 2849. During the offseason rebuilds I have pulled 225lbs out of the SR car, and 120lbs out of the V8 car.
