Default 100 Octane

Have anyone here ran 100 octane in your cars. what are your thoughts of doing this?

i do when i go to the track..you can get it from the pump in new jersey.its like 5.99 gal. i never really noticed that much of a difference.

is there any risk of damaging the engine. by the way its $8 here i think.

From your other post, your vehicle is stock with less than 200 miles on the engine. I don't understand why you would want to run race gas...unless you were FI. Stick with premium unleaded...

Actually you can advance timing when using 100 octane + as it is a more efficient fuel. I have UTEC and have had 100 octane maps made. It appeared that my engine didn't respond to advancing the timing by more than 2-3 degrees. Power gains were very minimal.

All of that said, I've ditched 100 octane as a fuel option mainly due to its cost ($5.90) and the results being minimal.

I'd like to try 116 octane in the future, but since it's not readily available, I haven't had a 116 octane map prepared as of yet.

you will not see ANY benifits from 116 octane uless you are in the 600/700 hp range.

And stay away from the leaded 116 unless you're running test pipes...

I'm running test pipes...and I'm not too concerned with trying to create a 116 octane NA UTEC map. But thanks for the info.
