they will do a thorough inspection prior to giving you the warranty... basically anything they find wont be covered....
and anything you mod, they likely won't cover either....
why do you need one?

I just purchased my Z last month and I was told that I couldn't buy the extended warranty the very next day. The finance guy at Petaluma Nissan said that it was a now or never kind of thing.

I believe that you can get the Nissan Extended Warranty anytime before the expiration of your 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty... I got mine at approx. 33,000 miles...

Yes, after the 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty is expired...you can not buy the extended warranty thru Nissan.
However, there are several 3rd party extended warranty companies that are much cheaper than Nissan.

That finance guy was just looking to pad his pocket. That's a jerk statement to make becasue any dealer can sell you an extended warranty if y ou car is still under the factory warranty. And most of the dealer sold warranties are 50% comission. If you have a good local dealer shop I would go with a Nissan warranty...if not you can buy a basic over the web. Like other have said they will be looking for mods to void the warranty.
