I totally agree with you on the test drive. My 03 just felt like it had more bang going through the first 3 gears. The differences that i felt were on the clutch peddle and my gear box felt a little more crisp. The new Z's seem to have a lighter clutch feel. I dunno if it due to wear on my clutch. Overall the 35th felt more like a cruising feel while my car felt more suitable to be pushed...heheheh

why are you obsessed with the rev up performance? why not aim a bit higher? you have something against rev up owners? it seems so strange to target such a small difference in engines. mod your car to be a better performing car overall not just compared to revup engine. it seems like you and your friend both got banana splits with everything except he got a cherry with his and your throwing a fit about it. in other words, it not worth agonizing over such little differences

300 HP and 287 is really not a major difference especially if you drop down in TQ. if your doing 1/4 mile runs you will see a difference maybe in the hundredth of a sec 's but over all not really as for people saying top-end come on i have had my 05's ZR 145 MPH and i was happy. performance wise it should be really even if you really want to have fun and want more power drop a super charger or a single turbo i think the single turbo is nice because its not over kill enough power to take on a 911 and anything else out there, and you should still be able to drive the car everyday. i raced my cousin 2005 911 4S and the only reason he had me is that he had 4 all-wheel drive and he was really impressed with the performance of the Z that he ordered one so he does not have to drive the 911 as a everyday car. bottom line the difference is so small it should not matter if the difference was 40hp-50hp then i would say OK whats the difference. i would not be surprised if Nissan cam out with a turbo Z from the factory because the supra is coming out with a v8 an you know Nissan is not going to sit and just do nothing.

i never said you were "hating" on the revups, more like your envious of the revup. no need to be. its like splitting hairs between the two engines. what im saying is, you should have higher goals then just trying to get to rev up engines performance specs, thats the last thing you should be basing your car's performance upgrades.

I do want to aim high but it would make our little comparison a little unfair don't u think. Nexx...sorry im not as knowledgable as you are with the car and thats why i ask. I can go the idiot route and just spend endlesss amount of money trying to sample parts that would be good for my car but i feel getting a more educated opinion would be best. You hated on me for asking wut i needed to know. Forums are here to provide you with information and help with your vehicle. It was purely my research procedure. I feel you should stick with your own plans and not be bothered by mine.

i dont think he knows how small the stock difference is.

btw, mrev can be done to nonrevup engines for an alleged gain of twice that of the spacer alone

Have a look at these comparative dynos.

The 287hp engine has more torque from tick over to 5300RPM above that the 300hp engine has more torque.

If you normally drive your car above 5300 to the redline then the new engine makes sense. If you prefer to not thrash it then the 287hp engine makes sense.

Interesting that both engines makes more torque up to 3500 RPM than a 911. As for boxster S and Z4 best to laugh at them

Are there proven numbers on paper for that setup? I was always told by my buddy that the Mrev kit wouldn't do much for the 03's maybe i can make him eat his words.heheh.....

it also seems that i've read somewhere that the Track model has something different as far as the plenum than others? is this true?

MREV itself won't do anything for a 287 (once you figure out what MREV is, it should be pretty obvious why). But, MREV Plus (machining of the lower collector intake runners) has just been shown to yield gains for both engines.
