In lamens terms, it's a bad *** traction control system. But remember, even BMW's and formula cars lose control, don't think it's always going to save your ***.
If it feels your tires lose traction, it will wanr you, take power from the engine, and apply pressure from other brakes.

well basically its a system that cuts off engine power if it senses that you are oversteering or understeering. it cuts off the power to help you get back on course. if it senses a slippage in your tires i.e. when you spin in the rain or snow, it cuts off engine power so you can regain traction. thats the good side of VDC. the bad side is that for launches, racing, etc it will kill your times because you will more likely slip when drag racing therefore the VDC will cut your engine power off for a moment

^^no not really... when you turn off the VDC, its not totally turned off. it still functions but at a smaller rate... thats why there are many threads in this forum that show you how to disable VDC completely.
