Usually what is recommended on older engines when you switch is to do a flush to get the old dino oil sludge out. I did not flush at 30K miles on another vehicle and just decided to ensure I switched oil out at 3000 miles to get more of the old stuff out. Never had a problem.

I swithed to Royal Purple 5w30 at 20,000 miles and no problems. I also add militec-1. http://www.militec-1.com/ I change oil every 6000 miles and oil filter every 3000 miles.

To call an engine with only 30,000 miles on it 'OLD' does not say much for the Engine in the Z which we know is NOT the case.

Just do it.

When you hit 100,000 Miles, come back and start asking about whether switching to synthetic could be a problem.

An engine flush is not always a good idea. A guy i work with brought his truck in for an oil change, they said it was a good idea to do an engine flush and he said sure. The next day i believe it was his crank bearings that let go due to the engine flush moving the sludge around and some got into his crank bearings. They never covered it and he was SOL. Just a lil heads up. Synthietic can be switched after you have about 5000miles on the car. They say its not a good idea to do it before...

Does anyone know what the problem is if you switch back and forth between Syn and normal oil?
